After just looking at the G2 unreleased repaint & then clicking on that link to Cybertron Shortround. I noticed I can't name most of the non-show character toys from Energon or Cybertron lines. So in a quick look over those lines just to remember characters names & also looking at all other lines too.

Which toys can be repainted has another character from another line?

It'll be good to have a full list up here of all the possible repaints.

Like Cybertron Shortround could be Seaspray, Seawatch, Octopunch.

Adding a list of repaints already done [include conventions stuff here too] can also be posted here. But are there any that could never work as a repaint? Most Optimus Prime toys could be Scourge/Nemesis Prime - but could Starconvoy work? if so who would Hotrodimus be?

Also be interetsing if someone lists a repaint that no one would ever of though off. Also are there any that would never work?

Which came first? Inferno or Grapple? We had the mode in the pilot cartoon called Hauler. But we in the UK would say Inferno first for the mode - but Grapple was used in the US & Inferno showed up later

I think Bob must have gone with Grapple so he could set up his Omega Supreme story. I'm trying to find other toys that could be repainted as head/target masters [apart from the 5 reused modes]. Only been Highbrow, Slugslinger, Hardhead that I can think of ones right away.

To nitpick, BT Jazz and Prowl are different moulds. Jazz was repainted as 'zoom-zoom' in red and remoulded as Shockwave, Prowl was released in blue and Police colours. Tracks was released in Yellow and Blue as well as remoulded ss Ravage. In fact every BT/Alt mould got at least one repaint or retool. Also Grimlock and Dead End came first, respectively.

As for Alternity, they might transform similarly and share some parts but Prime and Megs are differrnt moulds IIRC. Their robot mode legs are very different at least. And there are naturally something like three versions of each of them, too.

If you look up a character's entry at TFU.info it'll list most of their repaints and make the job far easier. Personally I'd give up or concentrate on one series at a time.

That's not brown. It's a grape purple. Ralph has it, it's hideous. And you had it listed beside the same Optimus Primal as the Onyx Primal bat repaint: they're different toy molds.

G1 Reissue Megatron is inspired by the various colour variants of G1 Megs in Japan (though if I remember right, none of them exactly match). Not sure if they count as repaints or not.

The history of Megatron is a little convoluted:

he starts off as a Microman toy in Japan with varying colours and accesories.

His original US release is: Chrome Body, red legs, gun accesories, no sword or bullets
Japan 16: Grey body, blue legs, swords & bullets, no gun accesories
Japn Goodbye Megatron: Grey body, blue legs, swords & bullets, no gun accesories bar the scope/fusion cannon

The main release of reissue Megatron (16S, TFC 6 and Encore 2) has always been all gun accesories, bullets & swords, chrome gun, red legs. 16s was the first time all the gun accesories had been available since Microman

There's a recolour of 16S in grey with blue legs, Megaplex, which is close to the original Japanese version but has the accesories that the original didn't

There's also a blackrecolour that's been out twice.
