Over the last few months the pile of books besides the bed has been growing and growing into a large To Read pile.
Only today TF:UK v2, Cable Classic v2 and the latest Avengers MU have gone into the shelves/box largely unread.
In progresss is Strontium Dog Case Files v3 and Love & Monsters, a book on how fans came to take control of Doctor Who.
Lying round the room unread we have (deep breath)
3 issues of the Panini Hulk Ace Trucking Co v1 & 2 The Stainless Steel Rat (2000ad adaptations) Harry 20 on the High Rock Avengers Assemble v3 West Coast Avengers Lost in Time Thunderbolts Classic v2

Mine has thankfully been diminishing after a good few years of growing, but dauntingly still stands at:
The Thing: Project Pegasus HC Marvels HC The first Waid / Garney Captain America HC (pre-Heroes Reborn - have only read the Heroes Return stuff) The fourth(?) Waid Cap volume with the uncensored version of that Red Skull issue Shade the Changing Man vols 2 and 3 Parker vol 2 The Unwritten vols 2 and 3 Daredevil: Born Again Generation X Classic vol 1 Alpha Flight Classic vol 2 Some Pak / Van Lente Hercules volumes Taskmaster RASL vol 2 Spider-Man: Origin of the Hob-Goblin (waiting til I've bought and read the preceding volume) West Coast Avengers: Lost in Space Time
I'm sure there are a couple of others which I'm forgetting, and I have some open pre-orders as well.
This morning I picked off a Black Widow collection by Macchio and Perez et al to read on the tube. Quite enjoying it so far.
EDIT: I'm just listing comic stuff here. There's no way I'm going to list prose books as well, I could probably read one of them in the same time.

I had completely forgotten it had a US release.
I need to add some Rogue Trooper to the pile come payday. Proper Rogue, not that Friday bollocks.

Just read v1 & 2. Hasn't aged too well storywise and doesn't work so well collected. This from a man that loved Rogue Trooper when he was younger (the proper stuff of course)
Some of the art is tip top though.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I refuse to believe! I was gripped by his seemingly never-ending quest to find the Traitor General!

I think Rogue probably does work better in a serial format given the story premise.
However, the rails came off somewhat rapidly after the Traitor General storyline was resolved. After that aside from Cinnabar I don't think it knew what to do. The reboot was a welcome one, and to be honest The War Machine was fantastic. Just the stories that came after weren't quite up to snuff.
Great art though - Gibbons, Wilson and Kennedy especially.

Oh Friday Rogue became far worse than classic Rogue.
But Cinnabar aside Rogue at the time was awful. The War Machine was a splendid bit of work. The minute they started aping the old one with bio-chips they went wrong.

My to-read pile is relatively small at the moment (for once),:-
Star Smashers of the Galaxy Rangers (Harry Harrison's parody of the bonkers space-opera of people like E.E Smith) The Illiad (I keep putting this off and must knuckle down and get it started) Essential X-Factor vol 2

Aaaaaaargh! WAY too much in my reading pile right now!
It turned out that, just ahead of Auto Assembly, I had a little more money than I expected. So, given that this has been a horrible, horrible year, I went on a bit of a spending spree as my treat to myself. (It's gotta be done sometime!)
The result is a shelf that's now groaning under the weight of books I haven't got around to reading yet. These include:
Two volumes of Classic Cable Two volumes of Judge Dredd casefiles Deadpool And Cable in its entirety Black Widow: The Itsy Bitsy Spider Wolverine: Enemy of the State and four volumes of Transformers Classics.
Funny thing: I bought the TF Classics because, in spite of having less than stellar ecollections of the Marvel run, I figured I really should make the effort to take them in before sitting down with the ReGeneration One story. Turns out, I'm actually having a lot of fun with these books!

Whatever issues the Marvel run had, it has never plumbed the depths that Dreamwave and IDW have plumbed and it's pretty cohesive, and consistent due to the limited number of different voices thanks to it being pretty much being Bob and Simon's show.

I currently have a museum guidebook in my to-read pile. Not just any Museum guidebook though - it is a 1971 cover-dated guidebook to what was then called the Welsh Folk Museum, at St Fagans on the outskirts of Cardiff. Discovered by my mother in the bottom of a box whilst she was tidying up I asked her to spare it and send it up to me, both as an artefact from my early life (although cover-dated 1971, our first visit to the museum when it could have been bought didn't take place until after 1973) and because it makes for an interesting comparison to my experience on a much more recent visit that I went on to the site with a number of this parish.
Looking forward to having a read through it and possibly learning a little something I didn't know about the early incarnations of the museum.

They're building a new main building there now, and moving all the archaeological collections from the National Museum in the city centre out to St F. www.museumwales.ac.uk/en/makinghistory/Martin Sounds like a grand idea - expanding things to give a comprehensive picture of human life in Wales down the ages. Very in keeping with the original aims of the Musuem. I must try and get down to see it once it is finished I think. Slightly ironic that I am reading about their new building at the same time as I am reading in their original guidebook about the construction of the original main museum block - which was under construction when the original guidebook was written!
