I've seen 5 or 6 3D films, but never before in imax, and I noticed a significant upturn in picture quality with imax. Overall I really enjoyed the imax experience and thought it had a positive effect on the film. In general, I was quite impressed with the 3D in DOTM, a lot better than Thor recently and massively better than 3D's nadir, Clash of the Titans.

Thor and Clash of the Titans were both transferred to 3D after the fact, whilst DOTM was intended and made as a 3D film. I've only seen 3D films that were intended for that format (Avatar, Tron Legacy and DOTM) and I assume filming versus conversion makes a big difference to the final product. Personally, I wouldn't consider going to see a 3D film that wasn't intended as such.
Incidentally, I saw Avatar and Tron in IMAX 3D and DOTM on a "regular" screen (albeit the largest screen in the multiplex and digitally projected); if I get chance this week, before Harry Potter takes over the screen, I may well watch DOTM on IMAX to compare.

Right, I've made an executive decision: I'm going to see it in IMAX this afternoon.

Yep, once was enough for me. I've felt no pull to go see it again.
