This is not one of my riffs against TF Prime, I came to realize the other day that unlike past versions of transformers, there's really no variety in the voices used.
Virtually everyone out of the main cast has a very simular deep and gravelly voice (Knockout is borderline this, but Smokescreen turns out to be refreshingly different).
So little variety that there's nothing remarkable about Shockwave... seriously, that design would have been sooooo creepy scarey had they given him a synthetic proccessor voice, simular to Stephen Hawking's.
So that's gotten me thinking lately, that there are a lot of great voice actors, and actors in general I would love to see in a TF series. As well as accomplished veteren TF actors I'd love to see return.
How about you? What actors would you wish to see, and who should they be cast as, in current, past, or future series?
G1 Dinobots (With the kinds of personalities and roles I would personally like to see written for them):
Grimlock- Keith David. Every time I read IDW's Grimmy, I hear him in my head. Basic Simon Furman Grimlock personality.
Sludge- Bill Fagerbakke. Giant and powerful, but kind, sweet, and gentle. Faggerbakke can bring Sludge to life in a way we've never had before.
Slag- Tony Todd. Not too dissimular from a klingon or a ficticious viking, Slag tends to be good natured, but very much loving a good brawl. Obnoxiously loud and boisterous, most autobots can't stand being around him for long.
Snarl- Richard Newman. Brooding loner, with a bad attitude, Snarl just wants to be left alone.
Swoop- Matt Smith. Swoop would be the egghead of the group, usually in charge of fixing things and figuring out complex science. Utterly a madman, Swoop channels a bit of the tenth and eleventh doctor, but I would make sure he had his own charms.
G1 Predacons:
Razorclaw- Ron Perlman
Rampage- James Avery
Tantrum- Michael Dorn
Headstrong- Garry Chalk
Divebomb- Johnny Yong Bosch
Others:
Bumblebee (G1)- Josh Keaton
Nightbeat- Jeffery Combs
Slipstream- Grey DeLisle
Flare-up- Andrea Libman (Flare-up is basically the tf Pinkie Pie, so who better to voice her?)
Arcee (G1)- Tara Strong
Perceptor- David Hyde Pierce
Springer- Nathon Fillion
Airrazor- Summer Glau
Would love to hear Tabitha St Germain, and Avery Brooks, but have no idea whom they can voice.
And would also love to see them drop Cullen and Welker as Prime and Megatron. That's gotten old for me. Especially since Kaye and Burton both utterly owned Megatron, while Welker is one of the weaker Meg voices.
