Well, well. Actual movement. Jolly good.
Yeesh, it's been ten years since the last series. Where does the time go?

Let's hope it's not vapourware, like the movie. I won't believe it until I see it.

It'll be good if it's like S1&2. Otherwise it won't be.

I hope its better than the terrible mess that was Red Dwarf 8. And 7. I still get angry over the disappointment of episode 1 of S7. But anyway I'm going to be cautiously optimistic about this.

It needs to be like series 3-5.
But it will be over-produced crap and all the actors will look odd in those roles as they will now be fat, bald and old.

Well I don't imagine the Dave channel has a huge budget for original programming. This could be a good thing. RD was far funnier when it was just two guys in a room. And a computer.

My personal favourite Dwarf series are 2 (despite the god-awful Parallel Universe) and 5. Though I like most of it actually. Born out of contractual obligations 7 was always going to have problems. But over the years... nah, if anything it's got worse. I started a Dwarf viewing a few months back, watching an episode or 2 every night. That changed when I got to 7 and in fact I still haven't got to the end of it. I think I should just skip to 8. Speaking of 8, I feel it was only let down by the multi-parters. Unfortunately that covers 5 of the 8 episodes Although the joined together Pete was a lot better I thought - which is strange because it is just the two parts stuck together. Actually considering this new Dwarf is a two-parter perhaps I should be worried I'm sure the making of will be excellent (if it's anything like the DVD docs). Curious as to what the "Clip Show With a Serious Difference" will be though. edit: apparently the two-parter will be titled: Back to Earth

If what I read in the papers a couple of weeks ago are true I think I'm going to give this a miss. It apparently has something to do with the Kryten, The Cat and Rimmer going to Coronation Street and bringing back Lister who is moonlighting as a cabbie under a different name (any fans of Coronation Street will know that Craig Charles is in the soap as a cabbie). I'm hoping that the papers have got it all wrong.

Uuugh! That'd be the worst thing to happen in the entire history of Brittish Television! Surely not!

I think there was a mention on the offical site that the papers are way off. Also they are not doing the clip show and the two-parter will now be a three-parter.

Brief episode descriptions from Dave: Back To Earth – Part One Nine years later the Red Dwarf crew are older but still none the wiser. Lister's busy day of annoying Rimmer is interrupted by the discovery of a dimension-hopping leviathan in the ship's mile-deep water tank.
Back To Earth - Part Two Rimmer's replacement, Katerina (Sophie Winkleman), is determined to guide Lister back to his home planet. But Earth in 2009 is not everything the boys had expected, and Rimmer has no intention of being replaced.
Back To Earth - Part Three Knowing they are destined to die, the Dwarfers – in best Blade Runner traditions – track down those responsible for their creation to plead for more life. HMMMMM

I'm hoping that this new run of Red Dwarf will be written by Grant & Naylor. It was their seperation at around the time of Red Dwarf 7 that allowed other writers to write episodes for the show and lower its level of humour and interest.

Alas, no. That writing partnership remains dissolved. So whichever one left (I forget due to tiredness) is still, er, gone.
Personally, I wish the makers had called it a day with the sixth series. It felt like a natural end. But I hope the new eps prove me wrong.

It's Rob Grant that left after 6. I did have a little hope he would be back when he returned to finish off Bodysnatcher but the new eps are just Doug Naylor.
