Gonna have to steal a car if it is.

Hmmm. Several days before pay-day. Probably not going to have much money for this anyway, so it likely isn't going to hurt too much that I am likely to get near my nearest Sainsbury until several hours after opening time, at which point it is usually far too late.

After much required spending on Real Life items today I won't have much cash for this but will pop in and have a look on Wednesday morning to see the madness. If the £9 Monster Fighters The Mummy and ghost horse set is there I could do have a half priced version!

Only had a few quick looks but most of the informed looking posts in a few different forums seem to suggest 25%-50% off everything is most likely.
They probably realised all those £100+ lego sets weren't been put aside for kids at Christmas. Still means at least 50p off minifigures if they arent all gone like last year.
Don't think I can be bothered to figth my way to the main lego section, but who knows might get lucky and find wave three Prime figures( or which ever has the newest deluxes in it)

There is a Sainsbury store in Derry, but I don't recall ever seeing any toys in there in any of my fairly rare visits. Its so close to Smyths so maybe that is a factor...

Lego apparently will be 33% off. Car acquired for tomorrows trip, mostly hoping for Transformers which last year were completely ignored by everyone but me, mind you the selection was utter rubbish.

BATTLE REPORT!
I was having trouble sleeping so I was awake anyway and thought I would donder in to see what was going on.
Got there at 6:54am. Store opens at 7am. No-one was nearby. No signs of life at all. Walked around the block. at 6:58am I noticed the doors were open. As I approached, a lass literally jumped out of a car, grabbed a trolley and ran at the door.
That was all it took for the red haze to strike me. I had to get inside before her. I knew she was here for the toys. I had been here first, damn it! The right of conquest was mine!
THE GREAT JOURNEY OF LIFE BEGAN!
I dashed for the toy section! Impossibly, dozens of folk were already there! How? How had they sneaked past me? What foul pact with the toy gods had they made? I watched, mouth agape, as like mewling monsters from before time they scooped up piles of toys and deposited them in their trolleys like so much plankton scooped from the sea by a hungry pod of mighty whales!
I ENTERED THE FRAY!
I noted that the main force of attack was on the LEGO section. It was being picked dry second by frantic second. I calculated it had at most 30 minutes of life before being sucked dry and left a withered empty husk!
I CHARGED FOR GLORY! LEGO GLORY!
With my right hand of power I grabbed the last remaining Star Wars Republic Strike-class Starfighter for I had coveted the fine maroon bricks within for lo these many weeks. With my left hand I deftly procured a Monster Fighters Mummy with Ghost Horse for I knew that with glow-in-the-dark eldritch power I could conquer all!
I THEN RETREATED TO CONSIDER MY FURTHER OPTIONS! ALSO, I NEEDED SOME BREAD, SHAMPOO AND HAND WASH.
Was this it? The final end? Was my triumph complete? NO! For the baying crowds summoned forth the blood-lust within me one more time.
I PLUNGED BACK INTO GLORIOUS BATTLE!
With the hands that beheld honour beyond honour I alighted upon the big City mining truck 4202 for I knew that if anyone defied me I could use it to dig a hole in which to throw their decaying putrefied corpse! I glanced back at the pitiful squabble of humanity as they gorged themselves on plastic crack.
I MADE MY FAREWELLS, PAUSING ONLY TO GIVE THE ROBOT SHOPKEEPER HIS GOLD!
And now, for the breakfast of the mighty.

Twas highly disappointed. Had hoped for one of the £112 or £20 Marvel sets or maybe something in a Star Wars vibe. Instead I came away with 4 series 7 minifigs. The transformers range was worse. Bumblebee and Cliffjumper and at prices higher than Asda and tesco have had them on sale in the last few weeks. To annoy me even more I went into Tesco before and they had Kup, Rumble and the rest of the new wave.

I went sometime between 10am and 11am and there was plenty to choose from, but nothing worth buying, save a Christmas present for my baby niece. (Preschool toys are half price.) Even at a third off, Transformers still seem too expensive at the moment. Overheard conversations of other customers suggested a general disappointment in the sale following the 50% reductions the last couple of years, and a disinclination to buy anything.

To annoy me even more I went into Tesco before and they had Kup, Rumble and the rest of the new wave. That wave just came into my Sainsburys last week. It was untouched this morning. Like Nigel I too heard folk commenting on the sale not being as good this year in terms of stock and level of discount. Unlike the last two years my local had not expanded the amount of toys or got in lots of new stuff: it was just what they had before. However, I had had my eye on the 3 LEGO Sets I got for quite a while so I was pretty chuffed to get them cheaper (a third off is still a good sale price) so my sale experience was still a good one. But yes, it was somewhat of a lesser event of previous years and lacked the 'wow' factor that brought folk in before. -Ralph

Hopefully hitting a large Sainsburys today, time permitting. There is a store near my old uni campus where I'm headed today. B&Q which is also near mission may take priority...
Will hopefully snap up something good.

A follow-up investigation was staged. Most of the LEGO is gone. The NERF stock has been completely decimated. Everything else is pretty much untouched.
