Ooo thanks for that. I saw it in store when I was last near a HMV, then forgot to buy it. Didn't think to check the website.
I've got a large pile of CD's stacked up next to the player, but generally I'm just listening to the Deluxe edition of Ash's '1977' at the moment. Going to see The Subways a week today at a gig originally scheduled for September but then postponed.

We are now days away from the release of Chinese Democracy, the fabled new Guns 'N Roses album. I'm very curious to hear it. Even if it's a pile of cack, it's creation is a fascinating story of insanity and obsession.
A review I've just seen online starts out by saying, "It's a bit like reviewing a Unicorn - how can you compare it to other members of the animal kingdom?". And that pretty much sums it up to me. The fact that it exists after 16 years in the making is remarkable enough. Depressingly, this may prove to be the last-ever 'event' album as the old record industry model dies...

I intrigued to hear it, but it's odd to call it a Guns 'N Roses album seeing as how it's just Axl Rose and his hired hands.

This is true. Seeing Axl and friends at Download '06 was one of the most depressing experiences of my concert-going life. Even so, I'm curious.

Did you know that Axl Rose is an anagram of 'oral sex'?
Going back to topic. I went to a fireworks night about a couple of weeks ago and watched this local band play a selection of classic rock covers from the seventies through to the nineties. The group was called The Inspired and they were actually quite good although I never saw them do any of their own music assuming they have any.

Jings. I'd forgotten how good Ravel's Bolero is when you hear it all in one go.

This week I am mostly listening to Simon and Garfunkel.
I in a big Simon and Garfunkel place at the mo. Some of their songs are a bit pants, like, but when the song is good, boy oh boy is it good! I love discovering 'old' music/artists I'd never realy listened to much before.

It's turning out to be a good second half of the year for the lead singer of the local band that I see live regularly. His band has reached the final in the Battle of the Bands competition, its his birthday on tomorrow and his wife has just given birth to their second child. He has much to be proud of.

Has anyone else heard the new Blur song Under the Westway? I don't listen to music radio anymore and I only heard it because Robert Elms was playing it on BBC London. It starts off a bit like Ultravox's Vienna and builds into something that reminds me of a mix of A Whiter Shade of Pale and Space Oddity:

Abba. I've discovered Abba. I've heard of them before, obviously. But now I've discovered them. They're very awesome. Shazam.

I think it's in reference to the old digs at Mr Borkett on the previous Hub in relation to his fixation on Crowded Haus.

I can already here the swearing this will no doubt prompt Mr Stevenson to indulge in, but Girls Aloud are back with a few new songs for their best of album. This makes me happy.

It almost sounds like a remix... Not keen on the WORDS that keep APPEARING ON THE SCREEN for emphasis though.

Not the best video of theirs, nor their best tune, (that honour goes to The Promise) but it is catchy.

I like it, it is catchy, though I do agree the shouty intro could have been skipped.

I don't listen to music radio anymore and rarely listen to music full stop but I have recently discovered a song which I'd never heard before that is now my current favourite.
The song in question is called Return to Love by Geila Zilkha and is from the anime Solty Rei.
I've realised that the older I get, the more I appreciate Jazz. It started out with Jazz/Rap fusion but I'm discovering more of the classic sounding stuff funnily enough from the anime that I watch.
Anyway this is Return to Love:
