I was surprised to find I liked Blitzwing as I thought it was poo in pictures. In truth, the alt modes are not that great, but it has a certain undefinable fun quality to it. Not sure I'd buy one, but it was much better than I expected.
The plane mode would make Karl cry though.

The plane mode would make Karl cry though. -Ralph It certainly looks rather iffy in pictures. I take it that in the plastic it holds true to the time-honoured "here is a brick with wings stuck on top" aesthetic? The tank form looks decent in pictures though - decidely retro with a nice early WWII look to it. Karl (Who has yet to see anything past Wave 1 that wasn't a deluxe in any stores in his vicinity).

It's the very definition of the 'that is not in any way convincing as a plane' Transformer. It has a strangely fun vibe to it, however, but you'll never think it's a plane. -Ralph

Which is about all most TF jets can hope for, really.
Speaking of hopes, Animated deluxe waves 2 and 3 arrived together at my Toys'r'us yesterday! Well, 1 box of wave 2 and 5 boxes of wave 3.
Wave 2: 3 x Ratchet, 3 x Blackarachnia, 2 x Bumblebee (!) Wave 3: 2 x Jazz, 2 x Soundwave, 2 x Snarl, 2 x Oil Slick
We also had the Animated Powerbot (basically a big, non-transforming electronics-up-the-bum Bumblebee figure) and the Animated Blaster (Prime in truck mode -> robot fist holding nerf gun).
Also, a little bird (or rather a promotional catalogue due out next week) tells me that anyone wanting some of these 6 new deluxe figures may be able to take advantage of a certain special offer that works well on groups of three.

Shame that the Southampton TRU alway sucks at getting new stuff in in time for their offers. Ah well, heres hoping I get lucky on the offer!

It's electronic. As for the Powerbot, think Cyber Stomper. My Animated stock is so frustratingly late to arrive (still no word from the supplier as to ETA) that I may have to take advantage of that special offer. Any idea how long it will be on for?

None. I shall investigate once it starts.
I referred to the Animated Blaster as a nerf gun just because it fires foam darts. Wasn't aware of the electronics. Nifty.

I keep looking in John Lewis, and being impressed at their range of Transformers.
I am really close to buying BlackArachnia and Ratchet.
And P-R-O-W-L
And Blitzwing.
And Optimus
...actually i want all of them.

Nifty. -Nick No, you still misunderstand me. Unlike the movie Big Rig Blaster, the Animated Battle Blaster doesn't fire darts. It is only electronic, with lights and sounds.

FPG have some of the Marvel Transformers Crossovers figures in: Venom, Hulk and Spider-Man. They look surprisingly decent, much much better than the Marvel Megamorph figures! They're £15, but at least look bigger than a deluxe and are quite chunky. Though with Animated, Universe and Encore on the go, I'll pass on this line methinks. Though I will have to physically restrain myself when Thor-bot comes out.

I failed to find Grimlock or Snarl in Asda, Woolies, Sainsburys, Argos or the Earlyu learning centre. The newly returned car is making a trip to the large version of the last 2 plus TRU on Friday. Need Animated Dinobots While I found Grimlock to be decidedly underwhelming, Snarl is excellent. Just a fun wee toy. -Ralph

FPG have some of the Marvel Transformers Crossovers figures in: Venom, Hulk and Spider-Man. The Entertainer were unpacking a box of Marvel Transformer figures when I visited earlier, which they're selling for £13 each. I'm quite impressed by the chunkiness of the Hulk tank mode. It isn't worth £13 in my opinion, but I may be tempted to buy it if it falls below £10 in the future. Knock-off transformers abound in the Pound store. I spotted Dash and Waver in my local store, as well as the last remains of the Cybertron mini-beasts. My trip to Wilkinsons also proved fruitful, providing my first look at the new wave of Animated figures.I was impressed by the Blackarachnia and Ratchet figures, of course. However, the Soundwave and Jazz just looked cheaply manufactured when seen in the plastic. I'll take another look at them in a store with better lighting (Wilkos has terrible artificial lighting), but I'm tempted to cross them off my list of characters to purchase.

No 3 for 2 at my TRU hopefully the POS will go up tomorrow as they has Snarl, Jazz, Soundwave and Oillick and my brother needs to buy me a present.
Asda have Grimlock so I finally get to use my discount on Transformers. Yay.

The 3 for 2 at Bristol was on an end cap, several isles away from the TFs on the row across the middle of the store.

That's a nice long run for a promo. Combine that with Argos doing the 25% off offer the other week and the mind reels at a TF line getting some decent promos for a change.

It probably also goes some way to explaining why little independents like me aren't receiving the stock. Still, Voyagers 2 and 3 should be arriving this week.

It does appear that the major chains around here are getting the usual completely random assortments of stuff.
Tesco have had a case of Deluxes containing Bumblebee, Ratchet, Blackarachnia (and presumably someone else who sold before I saw it), and the Wave 1 Voyagers - Bulkhead, Megatron, Starscream (and clearly have a pilfering problem on these, as they have stickers about half the size of the window on the box saying "Security Protected" on them).
Woolworths have Wave 1 Voyagers
Meanwhile Asda have Wave 3 deluxes - Oilslick, Snarl, Soundwave, Blackarachnia.

And BA is wave 2 along with Ratchet - though Tescos do seem to be getting those odd shelf stock boxes with BB in too.
