Well, it's different! It makes Eminem sound like Hannah Montana!

I got ridiculed by the in-laws for not knowing who Lady Gaga is! Having since listened to her drivel I was better off not knowing. <insert joke about poking her face here>

I couldn't care less either. The only gripe I have about her is that she took her stage name from a Queen song apparently.

Lady GaGa is all hype and nothing special, her Just Dance track reminds me of an Ashlee Simpson track called Outta My Head. Just like Mika, all hype and nothing special.

'Tis very cheery. Puts me in mind of fairgrounds and seasides, so not entirely my cup of tea on that score, but its intention is purely to spread joy, so long may it prosper.

I actually admire Stan Bush and wish him the best. People say he does it "just for the money" but come on - he's not making millions off of this. He could have easily said "screw Transformers" a long time ago - but instead he embrassed it and the fandom. So yes- I the fan did demand it. Do I prefer the original 80s video? Yes. But - I think it's cool to see this modern rendition and I'm happy he did it. I hope Stan Bush is around for a long long time and I for one will always big his number one fan. Speaking of Stan Bush and fans - check out this kickass fan made video of dare: www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYHGlWZjDLs&feature=relatedPete

Going back to the original topic, I was reading an interview with a very fine band called The Hours the other day, where they explained why Radio 1 wouldn't playlist them - basically, they are considered too old for Radio 1's demographic, which is apparently ages 14 - 23.
Just how many 14-year-olds in this country buy CDs any more? Not many I'll wager.
And that could explain why half of what Radio 1 plays sounds like ringtones...

Radio 1 are pretty much shooting themselves in the foot on that one. Is it any wonder why their listening figures have dropped considerably in the past few years.

As I mentioned a week ago in another thread I went to see this local band who the lead singer was someone I went to school with. Somebody has now put up on the bands Facebook page a video recorded of them playing one of their songs at the venue. www.facebook.com/pages/The-Big-Bad-I-Said-No/81718648889?ref=nfI can be seen at the front of the small crowd just standing there like an idiot watching them play!

I walked down to the Millennium Centre today to see two live acts. One of them was Maesteg Male Voice Choir, which I knew I couldn't go wrong with. The other act was more of an experiment on my part - a skiffle group called Railroad Bill. They took a few minutes to grow on me, but by the end of the 45 minutes I thought they were awesome. Click on the link and you'll get five of their numbers going into your ears. Martin

I heard that the Pogues classic is also back in the charts. Which Queen song was also back in the charts because I never caught the whole of the rundown?

Back in the 80's the Pet Shop Boys did normal pop music with largely normal music videos but ever since the early 90's their videos and performances have been largely bizarre costumed pop. If they ain't wearing traffic cones on their heads they've got dancers wearing boxes on their heads!

Ah music...I don't remember if I posted in this thread...but here's a quick overview of my music tastes: FUNDAMENTAL LAW OF PETE'S MUSIC TASTE: It all depends on his mode. He has a galaxy of musical tastes, and the planet that he visits depends on context - thus the following list will have a bit of back story: In the Car- Radio: While I do sometimes love listening to CDs in my car, I mostly listen to the radio - the radio station I listen to plays something called Chillout Music. I'm not familiar with music genres, so maybe this is a name that everyone knows - maybe it isn't. In any event - Chill Out music is a combination of jazz, smooth rock, reggee....it's really just anything that is low key, subtle and...as the name of the genre suggests...lends itself to chilling out. I mainly like it because - surprise - it really helps me chill out. CD Player: I have a whole stash of CDs in the car. Some of them are rock compilations with various groups that I can't recall off the top of my head. I have an entire CD of Poison's Greatest Hits. Europe is there to...Cheroke!! DU DU DU DU! WALKIN' ON THE TRAAAIL OF TEARS!! ...if you haven't heard it - you must. Unless you have something against 80s Ass Rock, then ...maybe not. Boston.....great great band...um...but generally - all 80s ass rock. I really need to get Bon Jovi's Crossroads which has a selection of his songs I like the most, as well as needing to get Meatloaf, Bruce Springstien, Smashing Pumpkins and..hmm...that's pretty much it...AC/DC I guess. Point is - in contrast to my smooth jazz chillout radio station - if I want to speed, run over rabbits, old women and swig beer while smokin and looking like a total hill billy out of hell - I put on the above noted CDs This happens rarely - usually in the summer...or when I'm MAAAD AS HELL about something...which is also rarely... this is my youth I guess... Moving on to my MP3 player - This thing doesn't have a single english language song on it. ALL of them are in Japanese, and I love them! Mostly Yoshiki Fukayama, Marii Ijima, but there are actually two Death Metal or whatever songs in english - both from Gurren Lagann... if you haven't heard them, or watched GUrren Lagann - you're missing out! I also have the songs from Haruhi Suzumiya like God Knows, Lost my Music, Koi No Mikuru Densetsu and the season 1 and 2 openings (particularly love Super Driver from Season 2)... Mari Ijima also... .... When the economy finally picks up and I have boat loads of money again, I dream of splurging on music - I really need to get lots of CDs of stuff I haven't heard in a long time... anyways - music is a big part of my life! I'm almost always listening to something! Pete

I'm having something of a strange love affair with pop music at the moment. Probably due to getting Singstar for Christmas.

Grabbed 'Hands' by Little Boots. Fiver for a download of the album. Great electropop. Very fresh sounding.

I love Little Boots. Caught her three times last year (although two of them were at Glastonbury). There's going to be a thing with her and Gary Numan on the red button at the end of this month (29th). Preview here

I was going to say that Gary Numan and Little Boots was a bit of an odd combination but when I think about it their musical styles are almost identical.

I went to the Jazz Club. Young over-amplified men played Saxophones They played very fast - Perhaps they had a bus to catch? The drummer played very loud, Was he deaf? They were very accomplished musicians The music didn't touch me I couldn't hear the tune for the noise. 'It's not in here' said an old man. 'I'll show you where.' He took me to an old house, Dust lay thick on forgotten chairs. In the corner was an embalmed piano The old man raised the lid and pointed. 'It's in there' he said.

My Youtube channel has now sprung into life with the entire gig from last Friday of the local band I'm always talking about. The gig has been split up into five parts and the picture and sound quality isn't the greatest due to a combination of a cheap camera and a dark room. Oh, and the cameraman (me) isn't too brilliant either! www.youtube.com/user/1911marmonwasp

Thanks to cheap downloads from Play Digital, I have re-acquired Goldfrapp's albums long since lost to me and last year's one. Very nice soundscapes and electro-pop madness.

Grabbed Queen's Flash Gordon soundtrack. With music now, I just buy downloads from Play Digital (decent quality, easy to use, fast downloads). I only buy a CD now if it's cheaper than a download and just rip the audio off it. Only CD's I still pick up are DW audios for the cover art and booklets.
