Buoyed by a recent discussion in the Top 5 favourite bands / artists thread it got me thinking. What are your favourite one-hit wonders? People's definitions of a one-hit wonder differ but my definition is thus: An artist that has had one top 20 hit in the UK charts and either no more or no more than three other hits that charted very low down in the UK charts. This definition allows artists in that had a memorable one and only hit in the charts that charted between the positions 11 - 20 (something that some people don't take into account) and also allows artists that had more than one hit but are known only for a certain record that got to number one or number two etc. Over the past year I've managed to find almost every single 80's one-hit wonder via my massive collection of CD's and the internet and there are quite a few that I enjoy listening to. I'll start off with this number 9 hit from 1987. youtube.com/watch?v=eHM2b8T0E4I

It's pretty much a straight shoot out between Chesney Hawkes "The One and Only" and Charles & Eddie's "Would I Lie To You".

The Knack, 'My Sharona'. I thank you. Mr Hopkins has a point It's only when listening to this that I remembered about the pause in the middle. Many years ago (85/6/7) I heard a DJ at Capital play this track, get to the pause, put an ad break on, and resume the track at the same point imeadiately afterwards.

I enjoyed Bus Stop's remix of Kung Fu Fighting. Its such a laugh to see a classic tune being remixed by a group who specialises in catchy dance music.

Another One-Hit Wonder thats only a One-Hit Wonder under the band name they recorded under is the Assembly as members Feargal Sharkey and Vince Clarke had bigger success in other groups.
