I think we might end up with the RID/Armada approach with characters repainted as powered up versions of themselves. Course not such an incentive to buy both but if the recolours get leaked early enough we can at least choose a favourite version.

I think anything from another line repainted as Animated stuff is going to look well weird and out of place. That sort of mix and match thing is Universe's gimmick really.

Not necessarily.
One of my suppliers has their Animated stock due in July. I know that Play uses that particular distributor because of some other items they stock that are exclusive to the distributor.
Meanwhile, the distributor that I use for most of my Transformers toys is expecting their first shipment in May.
Release dates can change, so it's a case of wait and see.

I've just got off the phone from one of my suppliers.
It transpires that Toys R Us currently has exclusivity on Animated. The general release date is 16th July.
(The director I spoke to was at a bit of a loss as to how Hamleys currently have them.)

Well, it seems that Hasbro have changed their minds again. I've just received my first delivery (Voyager Wave 1 and DVD twin packs) and they are stamped "On shelf date no earlier than 1 June 2008."
Of course, I suppose it's possible that the next waves will be stamped with 16th July.

TFW2005 is reporting that animated toys in European packaging have been spotted in FP. I would provide more detail, but I can't get to their site at the moment.

I was checking Play.com and noticed that some Animated stuff, (Lockdown, BumbleBee and Cybertron Prime) are only £6.99. Free Delivery, so everything is right with the world. Even the newer wave toys like Jazz are only £8.99 Just bagged myself Cybertron Prime. My current Autobot assemblage are in need of some heartwarming speeches about friendship. Sorry if this is common knowledge folks. |

I would imagine stuff needs to be in the distribution pipe now if it's going to come out before the ROTF line hits the distribution pipeline.

Ironically, in the States they're falling over them as he was the pegwarmer of the last wave most stores got. You might want to have a word on one of the US boards and see if someone can pick one up for you. Even with postage it ought to be cheaper than that eBay auction.

Well my cousin who lives in the US told me the same story, but when she came over a few weeks ago she told me they'd all been replaced now with ROTF stuff. Think I'll just pay shipping fees and eBay it from the US then.
