Interesting. I guess that either they are going to fast track the rest of the movie line or there will be a chunk we don't get. A bit surprised to hear about Universe. I was under the impression that we weren't getting that line at all.
However, Animated in April would be great - be nice to get my mitts on the Starscream and Bumblebee toys.

Okay...if i plan this right...
When the toys come out, I'm making straight for Bulkhead. Then the next month, we'll see what happens. I have my birthday in July...so i guess i'll be asking for several Animated TF's.
Look at me, thinking about buying new toys for the first time in years.

I have also received a preorder list from a supplier, which puts the releases slightly later with Animated in May and Universe in June. However, the TFW2005 scan appears to be a Hasbro document, which my list is not. Of course, release dates can change.
This reminds me, I had a list from another supplier the other day that puts Marvel Transformers as June; they are apparently the same price as Star Wars Transformers.
I shall hopefully report back with more information after Toy Fair next week.

Roll Out Command Optimus Prime £49.99? WTF? I thought Animated was supposed to be 'cheap and cheerful'? I guess the shelf-blistering sales figures for the movie toys changed their minds.
Karl- a different Universe, so to speak. The original all-repaints Universe line was US only because, I suppose, only its market is large enough to support so many toys at once. The new line is all new moulds and is only running alongside Animated, rather than the original which was competing with Armada, Energon, Titanium, Alternators etc for kids' attention- not to mention at a time when TF brand recognition is at an all time high.
While Voyager Bulkhead looks awesome... I may not be able to resist the leader one. Depends on scale, not to mention features. The Bulkhead I've seen prototypes of is shorter that Bumblebee, and that just ain't right.

I am aware of the existence and nature of the line. I believe we are getting stuff like Sideswipe in this one But my understanding of the rumours that were going around was that there wasn't any sign of an intention to release it over here. That was what surprised me. (And actually we did get some of the first Universe lines micromasters - only they got a release under the Energon banner here if I recall correctly,). Karl

Whoops. Sorry Karl, didn't mean to intone that you were out of the loop. I see where you're coming from now, I just assumed any rumours about Universe not coming out over here were based on the last attempt.
Ralph- you know Hasbro's policy. $1 = £1. It'll be fifty bucks over there which, considering the price of living and the minimum wage, is equivalent to about forty quid. Still hefty. Like I said, the success of the movie line may have prompted them to push the boat out, or they were planning this all along and the really expensive stuff is going to be limited to one-offs. The addition of 2 leader-class figures can be partly explained by the 1000+ leader class figures my branch of Toys'r'us alone sold over the last 6 months. More expensive TFs used to not sell so well. Now they do.

I am oft out of the loop - we here on the outer reaches of the Galaxy Network do tend to receive the news a little late. The fact that I am on the curve with this is, lets face it, fairly unusual. Hmm, decisions decisions. Do I pick up some of the Animated figures, or do I wait and pick up some Universe when they come out. Choices to be made it would seem. Karl

I imagine this will still be a cheap line as most of the characters are going to be available in deluxe, how long is it since the primary versions of prime and megatron could be bought as deluxes.
~Really how long since both, have we ever had in the same series both available as deluxes. The TRU Energon 2 pack were megas or whatever they were called. Supercon Prime in armada but no Megatron, I think thats it.

There was a deluxe Optimus Primal in Beast Machines...
Do the G2 Combat Heroes count? I think that was the last time they showed up together at a lowish price point.

The original Beast Wars two pack with Megs as an alligator and Prime as the bat was the last time they were both available at a reasonable price.

Not quite, I meant in their most recognised forms. In the case of Beast Wars that would be Ape and Trex. Classics had the deluxe two pack but neither form was similar to the better known classic design. Cybertron gave us various deluxes including ape and trex but nothing that looked like a futuristic fire engine or batmobile. OK there were the Legends for Cybertron but they are more of a seperate line as are Titaniums.

Also, the question was actually when were they both available at Deluxe size, so a two-pack of Basics doesn't count. Sorry, I'm being a bit of a pedant there.
Also not Deluxe, but we can look at Japanese for a couple of answers: Mega-SCF and Robot Masters.

Mega SCF fall into the Legends, Tits separate line. To me at least. Robotmasters.. I was unsure about yes Prime got a nice deluxe figure as did BW Primal and Megs, but didnt they use the G2 Megs toy which was last sold in the UK as a mega. Or was it a scaled down version? In which case I have another new must have toy.
Also RM feels to much of a random bag of randomness without its own take on characters.

Yeah, I wasn't really trying to give a definite answer there, as neither were main lines. It was actually a retooled version of Hero Megatron/Archforce that was used in Robot Masters, released as Reverse Convoy .

Bulkhead will be the first toy I am gunning for. £39.99 will be all worth it!
Just wondering about this line and whether there will be recolours beyond the boundaries of its own moulds. I can't picture Movie or Cybertron figures being repainted as non-show top up Animated characters. It could happen though.

You raise a good point there. Animated is so far removed stylistically from other series that it would seem to preclude most toys from being repainted for it, but the economics of Transformers would suggest that repaints will appear at some point.

I also wonder if there is a regular assortment too, so far I have only seen Voygers, Leaders and Deluxes. Perhaps the human characters will equate to being a regular assortment somehow or perhaps some equivellant of minicons.
