It has Christopher Lee in it. That is good enough for me.

That is quite an impressive cast to gather. Think I might give this a go.

Roll on March.
I still have a huge soft spot for the Tv show, despite its many flaws.

I only actually saw bits of the original TV version. For one reason or another I missed a lot of it. I did read the book adaptation many years ago, but it hasn't stuck in my mind that much - which does mean I can go into this new radio version without too many preconceptions.

Great cast, I'll be tuning in to this.
I do think people are too hard on the original TV series, Gaiman included, though. It was of a charmingly old-fashioned, even at the time, low budget BBC genre type and didn't suffer from terrible casting itself. I miss that kind of production. Like Karl I only saw a few episodes until the R1 DVD came out as it aired just as I was off to University.

I understand part of Gaiman's gripes were that the producer and director of the show didn't understand or care about the material, the budget was just too low for the script demands and the score was mostly non-existant. Gaiman himself seems a jolly fellow. Most of his work is not at all my cup of tea but he seems a nice chap and I do really really like Neverwhere in TV and book form (I haven't read the comic version).

I found the comic a bit disappointing, abandoned it after a couple of issues, but do like the TV series and book. I had the audiobook on cassette but don't remember much about it other than it being narrated by the actor who played the central character.
I understand Gaiman's gripes about the creative control, but the low budget is a big part of the charm for me. Higher budgets can kill that kind of thing, winding up looking more like a low-budget movie than a high budget TV series; it probably would have had to wait a good ten years to get a proper high budget to do the material justice, in a time when genre TV was fashionable enough again for people to take it seriously.
Gaiman's output has generally lost its grip on me a bit, I'm starting to find I can see the strings being pulled and that there's an element of writing for the adaptation that has crept in. Odd and the Frost Giants is probably the most enjoyable thing I've read from him in a while.

Grabbed the audiobook version to listen to again.
Great stuff.
Probably my favourite Neil Gaiman work, although if he ever finishes his Miracleman story it might have some competition.

Pfffft. Marvel got the rights to Miracleman how many years ago now? Was it last century? They will never ever get round to finishing it.
