Anyone else name their real-world cars after Transformers? Long time ago TM:UK helped me name my little White Peugeot 106. I settled on Runamuck. I then got a Mk.3 Fiesta, which I'm not sure ever got named - if it did, I suspect it was Cyclonus, because it was a slight purpley blue and I couldn't be bothered with discrepancies like Cyclonus not being a car. My next car was a Red Toyota Corolla SE (2000 model with the round headlights). This had a long sloping back so became Windcharger. I now have a new Red BMW 1-Series 5dr. The question is - what to name it? Cliffjumper? Chase? Lightspeed? Frenzy (or should that be Rumble)? Flamestone? And what have you named your cars? Note to mods - dunno which forum to put this in? Seeing as some people, mainly the presenters of Top Gear, see cars as big toys, perhaps this is the right forum?

Aw nice car, dude!
I haven't named any of my cars (which surprises me when I think about it). I've had my red Astra for, blimey, 8 years! She's great mechanically, Astras go forever (touch wood!) and I love her so, but cosmetically, hmm... probabily call her Empty or Junker!
Yours, Stom, I'd go for Prowl!
Not really! It's not a police car! (is it?)
What 'bout...
HOT ROD!!!!

My car is a 2000 Chevy Cavalier. I neamed her Colbalt.
She's really really sick right now, too, and we're trying to figure out what's wrong with her.

Phil has owned three cars:
The first, in 1991, was a horrid pale green Astra. Written off in the accident in Jan 1992 but I'd dented both doors by then.
The second was a burgundy Fiesta aquired later in 1992. It too acquired dents in both doors and was involved in a "foot on wrong pedal" incident while doing a 3 point turn at the top of mky Mum's road that wrote off a Neighbour's car. Part exchanged c 2000 to get....
my third car, a British Racing Green Fiesta.... kept in pristine condition becaause early in 2002 I fell off a train twisting my ankle and dmaging something so badly that I couldn;t drive anymore
So Liz (when we got together, 10 years this April BTW) got me to go for a disabled driving assessment. "They'll sort you out with something so you can drive again" she said. I nearly carshed the hand control car on the test track, couldn't handle different co-ordination with each hand. They told me to hand my licence in.
Phil did not name any of his cars.

I had a toyota carolla before my cavalier. It was the most hideous shade of brown (All browns are hideous for cars), and it was older than I am. I did not name it. I did not connect to it. I did not even feel it was mine.
But my cavalier, I bought it. I picked it out. I paid for it, and it has over 100k miles on it, and I put them there myself. I've bonded with that car. Even though technically the toyota was my first car, I never felt like it. It was just a vehicle I was stuck in until I started making enough money to gemy true first car. I don't know if I could ever move over seas, if it ment I had to give her up.

If it's any consolation Phil, my 106 didn't die of natural causes either and my Corolla has several dings and scrapes too. So much so, I'm not sure I'll get anything for it past scrap value if I try to sell it because of the bodywork damage alone.

My current car (and my faverouite so far) is an old Nissan Micra who I think of as Kup because it's an aqua-blue type colour like the Kup toy and it's also a rounded type shape a bit like the Generations Kup. Of course, I thought of it as Kup before that toy came out.
Older cars didn't really match up to any colour schemes (black then green) of any cars that stood out as TF characters.
Glad some one else has done this though.

Never owned a car. Can't even legally drive and no urge to do so. I do quite like being taken for rides in other people's cars though! I'm just too fond of walking and public transport. If I lived in a rural setting I imagine a vehicle would be much needed if not essential.

Essential is right. I personally cannot fathom what it must be like to live in a place like New York City, Tokyo, or London, where you can live a life without ever needing a car. Texas sucks for public transport. I have to drive about fifteen miles to get to the nearest public transport access point. Most people who do use Dallas' public transport system have to drive to get there. And walking? Unless you're in a heavy, HEAVY urban area... and I'm talking nearly major metropolis level, you can forget about it. Rare are the sidewalks. We have almost no pedestrian infrastructure here in north texas.
Downtown Dallas is investing on major infrastructure to support cyclists, public transport, and walkers (Not the dead kind). But that really doesn't do much good for anyone outside of downtown. And the bicycle trail they built has become crime riddled. Or so the news would have us believe.

Well, this derailed quickly!
I think I've settled on Chase. Sure my car isn't as sporty as a Ferrari Testarossa but it seems a good fit due to the black detailing. Lightspeed has too much white and Cliffjumper has a spoiler. Hot Rod is too futuristic.

"She's fast enough for you old man"
Han's dice are news to me though. Apparently only in one scene before they take off from Mos Eisley?

I think they're there in other scenes..... The Hoth launch where Han thumps the cockpit to start the ship springs to mind.
There is a disturbing lack of screencaps of them though!
