She'll be back! Whilst last weeks offering was incredibly dark, I'm predicting the next upcoming and extended episode will adapt a certain scene from the comics. Just a heads up  |

I watched the first two episodes of Whiskey Cavalier but couldn't connect with it. I'm glad Lauren Cohan is moving on to other things though.
I am wondering what Maggie is actually up to. Many fans are speculating that new community she's hooked up with is the Commonwealth from the comics.

Tara has never quite stopped annoying me so I cant say that one bothered me. Henry came as a real surprise, After getting over his annoying teen phase in the last couple of episodes I'd stopped actively hoping he'd die.
Honestly though this would have worked better with Carl if they hadnt pointlessly got rid of him 2 years ago.
Im slightly gutted that the Highwayman has gone so soon.
But being TWD and unable to not use storytelling short cuts, my main thought throughout was how did she kidnap that many people.

The Announcement was that there will be more announcements  Ambiguos like the comics story. It is easy to assume that Alpha wasn't the only member of her group infiltrate the fair.
All these deaths aside, there's still season finale to go. I'm speculating that Kelly is next based on her actress' Instagram activity |

Not having read the comics, I had no clue the pile scene was coming. However, I figured that Alpha had either killed Henry or Ezekiel.
I'm very sad the highwaymen were taken out, because I think there was a lot of potential with them. It kinda showed that how decent people could be pushed to doing bad things like robbery, if they think there's no others way. They didn't seem to really want to hurt the kingdom.
IMO, They looked like they could have filled the actual role the saviors pretended to be filling. Keeping the roads safe, while the communities supported them.
I'm also sadder to see Tammy Rose gone, more than I thought I would be. I'm really surprised and saddened by Enid. It took her a while to grow on me, but she really became an interesting supporting character since she moved to Hilltop with Maggie.
Though, I have to admit, I didn't recognize half the heads. They didn't really look like the actors very well, and I'm kinda faceblind to begin with. Most of them I pieced together through them showing who they were associated with, like Enid. I didn't even realize Tara was there until Talking Dead.
I also have zero memory of who DJ is. |

The pikes in order are : In order: Highwayman Ozzy, Highwayman Alec, DJ (ex-Savior), Frankie (ex-Savior/Negan Wife), Tammy-Rose (Earl's wife), Rodney (Hilltop teen), Addy (Hilltop teen), Enid, Tara, and Henry The only character in the lineup that had thier comics death is Tammy Rose. Ezekiel, Luke and Rosita dodged thier comics pike death. Same with Olivia (Alexandria food lady) and Dr Carsen who were killed by Saviors in season 7. Snow next week!  |

Normal Reedus, and Melissa McBride are the only actors left from the first season.
There's no one left from the Farmhouse. No one left from The Governor. No one left from the Prison, except Danai/Michonne, and Judith.
I think the next longest term characters are Rosita, Eugene, and (surprisingly) Father Gabriel.
Could be really wrong, but I also think all the original Alexandrians are gone, except Aaron (who was introduced before Alexandria, making him the next longest term character and actor)
On a completely different subject, I kinda wonder if Fear was in a little bit of trouble there, last season.
They overturned just about everything. Shed most of the existing characters in favor of new ones (bigger named actors, too). Brought Morgan, one of the more popular TWD characters, over, who practically became the main character. Brought in all new writers, all new showrunners.
And they didn't just bring morgan over, they really promoted the hell out of it, and had TWD lead directly into Fear (which has never happened)
So I really kinda wonder if all this was a last ditch effort to save from cancellation.

Scott is another original Alexandrian still kicking about. I didn't know he was a parent until ep.14. Fear has pretty much turned into a Morgan Jones spinoff from the companion show it used to be. The Season 5 trailer is now doing the rounds, featuring another familiar face. |

Fear has returned this weekend- And it is now definitively The Morgan Show.
Which makes me sad. Not because I don't like Morgan, but as I've said before, Fear should always have been about Madison, and her trying to keep her family alive. (Which IMO included Ophelia, Strand and Luciana). It feels kinda like when Worf joined DS9, but it had become the Worf Show, overshadowing Sisko and the others, instead of just integrating him (like they actually did)
Does it make me a hypocrite to both enjoy the new writing, characters, and showrunners, but still lament that I don't like that it's strayed too far from it's original premise?
I kinda like Logan, the new antagonist, from what little we've seen of him. I know everyone loves to point to awful Walking Dead villains and say "If we had followed their story from the start, we'd think they were the heroes while Rick/Madison were horrible." Like... no? At no point would Negan EVER be the hero?
But so far, Logan actually seems like that. He just wanted his stuff back, and he took it non-violently. |

It'd be interesting if while he remains an antagonist, he doesn't cross into being a villain, either.
That would be something we haven't really seen in this world, and I think would be much more realistic than Negan, Martha, or even The Governor.
But I love Matt Frewer. Love him in anything he's done. And especially in Orphan Black, which showed how well he can play a villain without it being sinister. |

That actually really does set it apart from TWD. And kinda subverts virtually allzombie and western apocalypse fiction tropes. |

I was hoping that Logan wouldn't be just another deadpan dangerous asshole villain, and would be more of an annoying pain in the ass "aw man, that bastard again?" antagonist.
But it looks like they're going with dangerous asshole.

A third unnamed series was announced, and this one is a teen drama.
I am not sure I'm into this particular mix, but I like the basic implication that they are now diversifying by mixing genres.
