I have the four previous decos, and only ever opened the Armada version.

My collecting of toys is starting to wane though in my old age. And this deco in particular hints at a phasing out of the mold, possibly implying a new mold on the horizon.

He looks increasingly irresistable. Photographed against a black background with a bit more negative space and some Japanese text brings out the best in him. Despite being obviously Unicron he looks like some benevolent old nature god.

I want this!

There's some tweaking to the deco, the beige on th shoulders is almost orangey now but otherwise////

The Sonokong release of Big Convoy is great, I've got one sitting on the living room shelves at the moment. He's one of my favourite BW toys all told, and one of the few survivors from my extensive BW collection.

I think I prefer the original toy colours, but for once this is a toy that isn't too hurt by Tomy's insistence on going as show-accurate as humanly possible. It makes for a slightly bolder scheme, but not one that is that divergent really.

I like that they tweak the reissues somehow. In this day and age, if you really want an original figure they're easy enough to get hold of unless they're something crazy like the dino cassettes. And reissues are so expensive they tend to rival the originals in price anyway.

It gives the reissues a reason to exist in this day any age. On the flipside, it's really disappointing that the recent Hot Rod reissue was just another Hot Rod. it's not like we're gasping for Hot Rod reissues (one which was magenta, or had tampos, then I'd understand!)

Also I mean, Big Convoys can still be got sealed in box for cheap, it's good that it isn't a straight reissue as that begs the question "why"?

There's only a handful of Beast Era toys that are absurdly expensive on the second hand market. Most of those are show characters, with Metals Jaguar, Ikard, Diver (all understandable), and Killer Punch (why?!?) filling out the rest.

Killer Punch and Survive were the tail end of the Beast Wars Neo toyline, a line that didn't sell amazingly well so by the time they got released, orders weren't that high. The recoloured Fuzors as Unicron's servants were the same, think they came out after KP/Survive. I've not looked at prices recently, but remember them being expensive.

The Korean releases never made it that far along the line, but brought down the prices of anything they did release, and gave some people a start into the Beast Wars Neo line. Some of those people wanted to complete the line, increasing demand for Killer Punch et al.

I'd say Killer Punch remains the most expensive because of the retooling that is only available on that figure. Survive and the Blendtrons are straight recolours, but if you want that styracosaurus head, you gotta pay the big bucks.

Killer Punch: released at the end of the line, less made - I'd say the Blendtrons are rarer but nobody wants them and he's more in demand than Survive who should theoretically be v similar numbers - no Songkong version, no Western version.

According to Hasbro, the Jaguar tooling is lost, as they wanted to release him as part of their BW10th line. He'd have been with Primal and Megatron's wave (and probably had his ship as the add in)

Ikard/Tako Tank and Killer Punch don't seem to be particularly rare or hard to find, stateside. They just go for stupid amounts of money for their commonality on the second hand market.
