Hmmmmm. I've been studying pictures.... for all his size, I'm becomming concerned over the thinness of Metroplex's abdomen. One could fly a plane between his arms and his stomach! This troubles me.

I remain fascinated though. He was my only 'LARGE' scale TF that I had as a child, similar to Karlos.

Metroplex: Best Bio ever (that doesn't involve can openers)
It is his hope for the return of peace that motivates him to crush every Deceptcon he can see beneath his mighty feet.
Brilliant.

Not got attention span currently to see anything but the giant Metroplex, which does look quite nice. Slightly more stylised but essentially the 80's toy made super big. I wonder if it will pass EU toy safety laws without changes.

It'll have been designed with those in mind I suspect- given that Hasbro's new plastic mix can be described as "lighter but just as strong" I think new Metroplex will have a lot less momentum (thus be less prone to falling damage) than an equivalent sized toy just a couple of years ago.
I'm not sure how I feel about Metroplex. Robot mode looks very impressive and all but the vehicle mode shown left me pretty cold- too many visible robot parts and it didn't look as good as the original. Unless there's a third "base" mode they didn't have room (or enough test shots) to display I'll be able to give this a miss without distress. Unless I see it on promotion and the red haze descends. Who can say?
EDIT: Noticed a promotional image of city mode further up-thread. Hmm. Looks like it has some decent play features with the car launchers and raising/lowering blast shields, but it's not my thing. Glad to see it, though.
I like the Legends Prime w/ Roller and Bumblebee w/ "Blazemaster".
Springer and Blitzwing look excellent.
The Generations Deluxes are a mixed bag. Bomber Megatron looks like an excellent figure on his own but I have a feeling he'll be smaller than Thunderwing, who is already way too small for the size of the character. I'd have preferred to see him as a voyager. Orion Pax is fine for what he is, clearly more Sunbow influenced than IDW. I'd be quite happy if this lead to Elita-one and her pals finding their way out at last. Trailcutter is cracking and will be acquired. Bumblebee is Bumblebee and will not. Probably.

I'm not sure about the thin lower chest on Metroplex, and the long legs. But otherwise spot on.

It's his thin abdomen and spread-leg city mode I'm not sure about.

the abdomen was what I meant, but the spread leg city mode was there on the original.

I imagine that there wasn't much choice for them. Keeping it as close to the original as possible while making it two foot tall is tough. If it had just been scaled up it would have been nearly two foot across as well. As it didn't really have a lower abdomen adding one gains some height, but make it too big an it is either going to affect transformation or change the look of the figure. Likewise the original had stumpy upper legs, by making them more to human proportion, along with the rest of the legs and the arms they get added height. The down side is that it does now have the look of a person doing yoga in the other two modes.
Personally thought I was always more of a fan of the vehicle mode, despite not really knowing what its was, but this new one straight away has the feel of a battle hip which I absolutely love.

I actually hope there's a scaled down voyager metroplez... two feet is too tall.

the abdomen was what I meant, but the spread leg city mode was there on the original. I know, I just think maybe I hoped they'd improve the design somehow. There is alot about him that I do like, he would be an imposing figure.

So..... Titan class repaint as Metrotitan? Doubt such a thing would ever happen outside the Japanese market. This is already a $130 pricepoint. IF Hasbro repaints it, they wouldn't waist it on anything so obscure. takara would, because it's not obscure to their market. It's more likely *if* Hasbro repaints it, they'll go with Fort Max.

Hmmmm first thought was that Fort Max isn't really all that much better known, I mean if you are an adult collector willing to spend that much on a two foot toy, odds are you know about Metrotitan.
And for every American (because I doubt Europe would get a repaint of such an expensive toy) who doesnt know there would be an equal number who would refuse to buy it because Fort Max should have it's own mould, or it should be even bigger. Or I'll wait for a 3P company to do it right. Or because Hasblow sux!!!!!!!! blah blah blah right on down to the madness of raped childhoods.
But then I thought is it crazy to imagine that they might have designed the mould with a few extra parts? Stick on a new head, replace the shin guards with red cannons and its not a bad FM. If they went even further and added hip cannon they would significantly alter the silhouette too and possibly mean they could form the tower in vehicle mode.
If not Hasbro it seems right up Hasbro Asia's street.

Well, I don;t believe myself that they'd do it as Fort Max. I'm just trying to imagine hasbro's reasoning. Anything this expensive is a huge risk. Fort Max, a legendary character due to being the largest TF ever made, or an obscure japanese character? Personally, I don't see Hasbro doing anything at all. Metroplex and that's it.
But it does seem crazy at first, but there's not really that much different between Metro and Maximus. Their chests aren't that different, and some clever retooling could bring this Metro closer in line, as you aid.
And I do think Fort Max is considerably better known than Metrotitan here in the states. Anyone coming into transformers is going to run across the name Fortress Maximus eventually. He's been in separate cartoon Series (One of which gets airtime on the Hub), the leader of the Autobots in marvel comics, made a few appearances in IDW comics, plus a high profile reissue. Metrotitan is pretty much only known as an obscure japanese decepticon repaint of Metroplex. If it weren't for the Wiki, I doubt he'd really be known at all, here.

Well, Metrotitan's profile has been boosted a little by the current IDW ongoings' annuals. And hey, ready-made pack-in comic(s)!
