Phew. This means Ralph has just saved £125. Can't justify that price-point on a toy with a missing feature. Fuck sakes, Hasbro UK. Get a grip.

Metroplex has a really clever system where bars on the side of the handles of his weapons fit into a slot in the palm of his hand to stabilise the weapon.
Dear third party manufacturer: I would like a piece that fits into this slot and projects upwards to give Metroplex a 5mm peg hole between his thumb and his fingers. Make it so it can be turned upside down to give a Minicon peg in the same space. I have money for you. Thank you.

And in US Boxes too, which means it's only for distribution to English speaking countries.
I can get why he might be voice gutted for a Euro release, which technically we're part of, but that would need multi lingual boxes.
Doesn't make sense

Safely removes any desire I might have had to pick one up, although I was already reluctant. Tis a shame.

Indeed. I think the light up gimmick could have been done a little better too: I'd have made the control cab on the top of his chest with clear windows that light up when the noises are on.
oooooo, nice hidden feature: In robot mode the kneepads fold down and lock in place to form platforms for the small robots to stand on.

Apparently Amazon have knocked $10 off the price for anyone considering importing. I think it was Metroplex, too lazy to check.
Ohh, I messed around with the knee pads a bit but didn't notice that. Cool.

yeah there's little tabs on the bottom of the kneepads and slots on the runway for them to go in.
There's also a Legion/micromaster sized command centre on the back of his right shoulder.
I'd have been tempted to duplicate the opening wrist cannon on his left arm too.
And a few more 5mm holes in the runway too
You really need a bundle of old school Legends/Legions to enjoy Metroplex properly though. I've got Bluestreak (Autobot Gunner) manning the cannon in his left shoulder and Rodimus & Prowl sitting in the opened out right arm. Gonna need to get the Micromasters out as I think they'll work even better

Must admit, I went off it a bit when I found it out it has no working car launcher. Disappointing considering the price-point and that the original could do it. Also fairly essential for any base toy, I feel!
Still had loads of fun with Phil's copy though and I know full well that acquiring one inevitably lies in my future. Probably on a potato-juice fuelled day.
The voice chip is fun and the robot mode is very enticing in the plastic.

I just spent two hours applying Mr Plex's stickers.
What's the switch on the back of his head for?

The one under the flap? It moves his eyes Action Man style, but as you can only see that when they're lit up it's a bit rubbish.

That's the sort of thing that TF news sites don't tend to mention. I think our best bet is to look out for Youtube reviews.

Gah! Nearly broke it first transforming. I left the base of the foot stuck inside the leg when I moved the foot back in to robot mode position. Thankfully the soft plastic of the part means it bent without breaking. Only harm is some nasty stress marks. I have just done exactly the same thing...I decided given the weather is rubbish and nothing else was happening this afternoon that it was finally time to apply the stickers. For about the first hour I was happy as Larry lamenting the fact that Transformers don't have sticker sheets these days, for the second hour the OCD was kicking in with anything minutely misaligned, and by the third hour - which for me was the city mode top down view on the guide sheet - I'd lost the plot and couldn't work out where on earth the stickers were supposed to go. It was the ones that go in the bays in his opened out legs. The sheet really doesn't make it clear. Fortunately I found a youtube video that demonstrated. Then when folding the legs back up I nearly broke those ramps that make the base of his feet. Forgot rule one there, if you're having to force a transformation then something isn't right. But that was the first time I'd had him in city mode, it looks so impressive. That is one massive toy.

Well you could get 6 pairs of Prowl launchers (just to make sure he's never caught short) and they'd be easier to hide from Mrs.Shockprowl, but Metroplex is more fun.

Surprise trip to the US on business next week.
Do I pop to TRU and get a US Metroplex for $130/£80?
