www.tenthplanetevents.co.uk/convention---dimensions-2013-632-c.aspI have ordered a weekend ticket. I went to last year's event and was never bored. Good guest list and it's in central Newcastle this time so should be easy enough to get a cheapish room booked nearby. I think whatever panel Gareth Jenkins is on could be Very Interesting! -Ralph

Sorted out trains. Once again, very reasonably priced to get to Newcastle from the Burger and back.
No luck getting a hotel in the centre of Newcastle. Far too expensive for two nights, but going a mile over the Tyne cut the cost in half. Huzzah. Will find out if that means Bandit Land.
Solo mission is a go.

Under two weeks to go and I see Gareth Jenkins is still listed as a guest. Poor sod.

His only association with the show is being in the short episode done for Jim'll Fix It. He can only be asked about Saville. I'll be amazed if he actually turns up.

Down and all fine so far. Not bothering with the quiz this evening. Out on the town instead.
I have already seen pics of Gareth Jenkins on sale in the dealers room.

No hotel assignations, Burns reports he has left the cave and is away back for day 2 and THAT panel.

Indeed. Quick lunch before heading back for the last panels. Some minor niggles. The organisation of the autographing is an utter shambles and I quickly gave up yesterday. Luckily, there has been a constant stream of panels running pretty much on time so plenty to do and I am enjoying the event overall.
Like the best run cons, the panels are not in the dealer's area so the guests can actually be heard. A good spread of guests, actually. Shame Davison didn't turn up.

Overall a very enjoyable weekend. These Doctor Who cons are so much more relaxed affairs than the (at times) rather too frenetic Transformers ones.
Highlights were Jeff Cummins (artist on Target and NA book covers), McGann (very witty) with the top star being Dick Mills who gave a lovely presentation about the Radiophonic Workshop and how the original theme tune arrangement was put together. I never fully appreciated it until I heard all the various bits broken down seperately before being combined in layers as the process is described. Worth turning up for that alone, actually.
Random observation: Anneke Wills apparently has the fountain of youth. In no way does she look her age!
