The 40 years logo is a tad ugly. Clashes horribly with the packaging.
I reycle most packaging but with these it's a key part of the product.

So these are carrying on the retro/movie colouring style of the recent reissues, but rebranding from being 'The Movie' to 40th Anniversary instead?
I get the tie in, but in terms of these being 40th Anniversary reissues, they aren't. They're recolours.
"You had these as a kid and now you can own them again, except they don't look quite like they did back then and in fact they're kinda plain compared to the ones you remember, which you'll probably realise only once you've bought them. Hasbro - we bring the disappointment."

I seem to be on my own in really liking Soundwave.
Its Action Master coloured.
Really should have come with Wingthing.

Kinda disappointed by the change to g1 packaging (never thought Id say that), its only 4 years or so since Walmart had the last round of G1 Blaster and co and the new art work boxes were nice. Even if the movie setting was ditched I would have liked to see sunbow 1-3 scenes.

I'll have to wait until I see prices over here, but the colour schemes (especially Soundwave) are sufficiently different from the originals to make them desirable, even if they do also make them look rather like knock-offs (again, especially Soundwave.)
Curiously, both Soundwave and Blaster are two of the very few original Transformers that I still have the packaging for. Also curiously, I had them both from new not in the 1980s but in the early-mid 1990s and probably both were grey market imports. Blaster, I had from some cheap novelty shop while on holiday in Blackpool; Soundwave was from a mail-in advert that a shop put in Model & Collectors Mart, so may well have been one of those Chinese releases. (Years later, I would kick myself for not taking up another offer that that shop sent me in the post - the actual post, in an envelope and everything - for Sixshot. I think it must have cost too much - and probably only about £30 - for a character that I didn't really know at the time.)

Soundwave sold out quick, but it's on all the usual sites too.

Has anyone else noticed that almost the first toy in this thread is the 25th anniversary Soundwave reissue? Now here we are discussing the 40th anniversary version.

Those colours are really nice. If I didn't have a G1 Blaster already I'd be up for this.

The one on the right.
I still have TFC Blaster but this is just different enough that I must have it.

Amazing isn't it. Take away the chrome, strip off the detail, flatten all the colours and boom, it looks fantastic. That has no right to work!

Well there is that too.
I think I've been indoctrinated by the route masterpiece has taken in recent years. It's training me to think bland is chic.

It looks cheap, but also looks like an expansion of Actionmaster Soundwaves colour scheme.
And as nice as original Soundwaves are all those stickers and chrome will wear or fade while Retro Soundwave will.... well it will probably yellow quickly and badly. But thats ... different.
Im still on the fance about Blaster.

I think Blaster is the best of the bunch. The way some of his line work has been picked out in black is very nice, and I think he's simple enough that the loss of stickers isn't as keenly felt.
