Interview over at CBRI can't help but feel it's a title that needed to be mercy-killed, and reading the interview only makes that need even clearer. The primary cast is restricted to variations on characters Claremont created. They have just given him his own little sandbox to play in safe and out of the way. No hints as to whether or not Excalibur will be retooled and relaunched. Andy

Back in the days when i read loads of comics every month, i loved eXiles. Looking back on it, it was an entertaining enough romp for a while, but i ended up dropping it.
I'm surprised it's still going actually.

No hints as to whether or not Excalibur will be retooled and relaunched. Andy Exiles is one of those books that seems to have spent its existence looking for a point. It started out reading something like "a buch of parallel universe versions of X-Men characters travel across dimensions being directed to thump parallel universe versions of other Marvel characters" then it spent a while trying to make something out of its own backstory (tying itself in a bit of a knot in the process because it nearly removed the justification for its characters actually being in the book), then it became somewhere to stash Chris Claremont to give him something to do, and to have a book that Claremont fans would buy. I read a few issues here and there, but there never seemed to be anything to draw me back for more. I sometimes think "Exiles" survives because it is so far below Marvel's radar horizon that they tend to forget its existence. Karl

I was tempted to get it when they brought in Spider-Man 2099 into the ranks but the writers never seemed to grasp the character's voice at all. Claremont especially being unable to do anything with him that made any sense.

Some of the early stuff is great. Some of the mid stuff is OK. Then Claremont came and I was gone within 1 issue it were that bad !
Note: I liked Claremont's New Excalibur

Which one was that, was that the Prof X Excalibur book, or the new one with that really horrible Captain Britain costume?

The later. The Nocture stroke issue is a good piece of work.

Yeah Phil O'Brien praised it over on The x-Axis.
I still hate that awful Captain Britain redesign though.

It's not an improvement on either the 2nd or 3rd costumes.
