From NewsaramaIt's the usual press release language, I'll be curious to see how it looks in action - hopefully better than the one they've been using up until now. Will anyone plan on subscribing at all? Andy

I'll check it out, but the format actually sounds a lot like like what they currently have.

I've given up on comics aside from Buffy and TF TPB so I like the idea of online (or DVD) comics more and more, just for the space saving aspect, but I've never read a comic online in a comfortable way to much zooming in and out.
I could be tempted by this as a way to read all the old comics. for £30.
Depends how long it would take for current issues to be added, I'd guess at least a year behind shops.

My budget has been tightened quite considerably recently and I doubt I would have the slack in there to absorb the costs. I don't think that it is a terrible idea, but a lot is going to depend on the actual presentation of it to be honest. Karl

I was wondering when Marvel would wake up and smell the changing of the tide. While I prefer print copies, a lot of kids now get their content digitally so putting comics on-line is a good idea to grab their interest. Price-point seems reasonable.

Marvel's Digital Comics is the link in question but the site is obviously experiencing heavy traffic so for the moment access is a bit patchy. Andy

Sadly it does appear to be using their woeful digital reader bollocks. The only way the thing works is to enable smart-panels and read panel to panel.
I want to like this, I really do, but for the moment it is leaving me cold.

And you can't download. Even though, if you sign up, you've paid for the content.
Bollocks to that then.

Marvel are very much pitching this as being a bit like a TV on-demand subscription. For a given sum of money you purchase the right to access the content at a time of your chosing, rather than purchasing ownership of a copy of the content. I'm not particularly interested in the idea myself - if I'm spending money to read comics I want to be able to stick them in my bag or coat pocket and read them on a train or whatever. That and the fact that Marvel's website loads so incredibly slowly over a 1 Meg connection that I haven't actually ever seen it yet. Morbid curiosity isn't enough to make me sit around for ten-fifteen minutes whilst the site loads. Karl
