From newsaramaIt's interesting to see what might come of it, I know DD have been a safe and steady set of hands but Marvel might want to tap into Joe with the live action movie in the works. Andy

I have been enjoying Devils Due GI Joe and would hate to see the work thrown out the window. If it did move to Marvel then it'd be nice if it carried on the story rather than a restart.
And if the tpb scheme for the original 80s Marvel comics came back into production then all the better. I've been trying to get issues 51-155 since the trades stopped a few years back and failing.

I hope it stays with DD. I've been enjoying their GI Joe output since the beginning - in fact, I've enjoyed it more than the Transformers comics over the same period. It would be a shame to see it go.

I think it would be nice if IDW took up the G.I Joe reins then they could do a G.I Joe/Transformers crossover without all the hassle of seperate license holders. Also, it would give Simon Furman the opportunity to write any such crossover.

I'm not exactly champing at the reins for yet another Gi Joe/TF crossover. There have been 600 of them already! And none of them good!
But then, I've never seen the logic of mixing the two*. Just doesn't work.
As for the GI Joe comic licence, I haven't read it much (one random Larry Hama issue which was competant but nothing special) since it was up the back of Transformers UK so can't venture much of an opinion of how Devil's Due are handling it.

*Yes, I know the same toy company owns both properties.

I'm not particularly anxious for another Transformers/GiJoe crossover either. The two seem to live in two very different contexts really - Transformers is most often inhabiting the "Super Robot" end of its genre, whilst Gi Joe I associate most with the "cinematic military action" sub-genre. The two have always felt like a very uneasy mix. (except perhaps with "Generation 2", where the two sort of passed each other tonally as "Transformers" slid in a somewhat unexpected direction). I'll admit I've not read any Gi Joe since Larry Hamma's Marvel run so I can't comment on Devil's Due's work on the title - but they must be doing something right because their sales stabilised where pretty much all the other 80's cartoon related titles ("Voltron", "Battle of the Planets", "Robotech") haemoraged to direct market death. This week's LITG seems to be adding fuel to the fire that IDW have gotten the licence.
GI Joe was a comic I read and enjoyed but was absolutely ludicrous in execution. A special ops team that act like superheroes in almost every respect. Some great stories in there, but a lot of bollocks as well.

A special ops team that act like superheroes in almost every respect. To be fair, they're stuck with that if they're going to do a GI Joe comic. Similarly, IDW's Autobots and Decepticons are covert teams who have disguises that only work as disguises in certain circumstances (see: Brasnya) - because people expect Prowl to be a police car.

If IDW have got the G.I Joe licence then you can almost guarantee that a Transformers vs. G.I Joe comic is in the works whether people like the idea or not.

Hnh. As I said earlier, I've consistently enjoyed DD's Joe more than either DW's or IDW's Transformers. I doubt I'll bother getting the new comic, even if it is Larry Hama's.
I hope DD get to tie up their series properly before they finish.

I hope DD get to tie up their series properly before they finish. Last issue is already out. They did a 12 part story to finish it all off. Was good, but the last issue could've been better.
