I think that IDW might have run out of their asigned paper stock for each year - makes more sense than the no statements they give out for the delays

Got my copy of this today. Absolutely jaw dropping. The only way this could possibly have been bettered would have been to include the tech specs, but obviously this isn't so much an index - more a celebration of the legacy of the art. Massive heavyweight coffee table book, bigger than I expected and glorious to thumb through and look at. It's almost a white glove job; these pages are too nice to get covered in fingerprints. Total nostalgia overload and essential for anyone who has a past invested in G1.

Agreed, it's a very nice book. A couple of interesting unreleased bits which I hadn't seen before and variants I didn't know about.
Waiting for Phil to get his copy now and make a list of all the missing pieces.

They mention in the text that they couldn't find everything and didn't want to scan from the boxes as it didn't give good enough quality.
I've not done a thorough check, but there's a few Action Masters missing, the majority of Euro exclusives (a shame as the Motorvator/Overlord back of box artwork is one of my favourites) and some Japanese pieces (Reflector's camera mode boxart, Wildspark (although that's only a very minor change from Fizzle)). The Neo G1 section (ehobby, etc repaints) is missing a few bits like Road Rage, Orion Pax, Gobots, Detritus, Insecticon Clones. I'd like a more comprehensive list of what is missing, guess Jim Sorenson would be the one to ask.
It's still a very impressive book though, don't let the missing few distract from what they have accomplished.

I do remember him saying on a podcast that some of the omissions were due to space in the page count, as well as art availability, and he cited euro G2 releases as the area that suffered.

I keep going back to the double page spreads of the art from the back of the boxes. I think these should be released as limited run art prints at the highest res they'd go. Posters at least. Don't know why no one's done that.

I think I'll add this to my Christmas list, even though the apparent lack of late Euro content is a disappointment.
Hopefully missing bits will appear in any future sequel rather than a revised edition.

Mine arrived a few days ago, have enjoyed flicking through it when I have the time. Very nicely presented book, especially compared to what the same publisher has been doing with the TF Classics lines.

Arrived today. It is a thing of beauty indeed. One or two examples where the Masterforce era magneta/red hasn't come out well but very forgivable given the other 99% of the book.
The Technobots have never looked so good!
