I actually just read that article not two minutes ago. Excellent stuff, strange paintjob.

I dream of a Universe Thundercracker in that colourscheme, as per someone here's avatar.
It would be amazing

What I find most bizarre about it is after changing all those colours they chose to leave the upper legs exactly the right colour as if to prove it really is Thundercracker.

He was one of those Actionmasters I bought because I didn't have the original toy.

And thus the gospel of Actionmaster Thundercracker is spread...
It is funny, I never really gave Actionmaster Thundercracker much thought until Ralph got one, but since then I have come to think that it is quite a fun little toy.
I like the fact that they didn't feel constrained by the animation model, and went off and did something else instead. I also think his mecha-dungarees are fantastic. They always look to me like they should make a nice chunky hisssst-clunk noise when he walks, like the loading exoskeletons in Aliens. Practical? No, but entertaining none the less.

Does anyone here own both of these monstrosities?
Can you pass comment on how the colours, especially that used for the upper arms & lower legs, compare.
Thank you.

We have them together right now. Ramjet looks comparatively dull in comparison. But they use the same or very very similar purple . The guns swapped work well.
What. Comparison of the upper arms and legs are you after?

I found my original last night while looking for Darkwing, the upper arms and legs on my original are pinker than the Botcon one, which has more red in it.

That was the feeling I was getting from the pictures online but wanted to check to be sure. Thanks.
I'm not 100% sure the wings & tailfins are the right colour. The sides of the legs - which I think are meant to represent them on the AM - are lime green but they're purple on the Botcon toy.

The wings on the AM are tiny things on the shoulder, so they're pink.

Aha!
If you get a chance can you look at the Botcon's version's head and see what colour it is *under* the paint? The pin holes on either side are never properly painted so it should be eary to tell.

Opps teach me to post when in then bar. I thought you were referring. To thundercracker and ramjet. The botcon version is a duller red/pink but makes tnhen othother three colours look all the brighter.
The botcon. Absolutely not the right colour layout. I worked it out years ago for my custom. Besides the upper legs which technically dont exisist on the g1 toy and the head which is an anomoly, there is avery clear colour swap carried out.
Blue to pink Silver to purple Black to green
For accuracy the botcon version should have had Pink wings, green tail fins, thrusters , missiles and nose cone.
Some of that is possibly due to whichparts are pon which moulds, but mostly its due to lanny using internet research to design it and finding purple winged pictures. I shouldm be annoyed but tnhe multicoloured guns of joy could make up for almost anything.

Some creative spelling there, Mr Bogatan. Have you been hitting the sauce early or is it the dinky keyboard on your smartphone which made me feel like Ben Grimm trying to send a text?
Ah, I see it's the latter.
Thanks for the tip, Matt! I'll try Snake Eyes on Pinkie Pie later, but I don't know if she'll wear the saddle.

I almost did just now, but not for research puposes. Since last nights bar time with tc and ramjet ive realised you could make areally decent generic strike plane figure by combing the purple bits. I stopped when I realised the combined price and felt more consideration might be needed.

Its well painted, so hard to be sure but I thunk it might be purple. I think it's blue. Like you say, very well painted, but mine has a slight bit of blue on the inside of the helmet bits near the mouth. Either it was missed on painting, or they dabbed it while painting the face blue.

Purple would make sense as it would then be on the same parts frame as the wings which seems to contain all the bits that change between Starscream and Ramjet.
There's four parts frames involved as far as I can see:
Body, upper arms, lower legs & launcher barrels - red Upper legs & launcher triggers - pale blue Feet, lower arms, hands & launchers - lime green Nose, jet wings, tail fins and missiles - purple
This last frame is replaced with a new one for Ramjet.

Actually could you look at BC AM Thundercracker's nose for me? The picturew I'm using shows it as purple, but I'm wondering if it's painted because Acid Storm's nose is the same colour as his upper legs and missile triggers. I know the toy mould has had some remoulding so it's possible the nose could have moved parts trees at some point.... ditto the panels screwed into the underside of the wings. BC AM Thundercracker, Acid Storm & Dirge are really the keys to understanding what parts are moulded with which on this mould as there's a bit more colour variety to them.
