In all fairness, a lot of people who were present the year Next of Kin played have been asking about the return of live music. Apparently the saturday night singalong is remembered fondly, but I was in the main bar that year and didn't experience it. But yeah, the, shall we say, 'delayed encore' of sunday morning was probably not the wisest move. From the mumblings I've been hearing, this year will have something of a layout shuffling. We might even have extra rooms, but I honestly couldn't confirm either way.

Oh godddd I put off booking my ticket and now I see the hotel rooms just went on sale and the AA website indicates they're all sold out? If I go and buy the ticket, is there a chance I won't be able to get a hotel room, or is that just a bit of a scaremongering post on the AA site?

They keep adding room apparently.

Going by what has been discussed on twitter is that more hotel rooms keep getting added as demands increase.
Though I booked a double room to save costs, and as of yet have no one to share with, so if anyone is despereae and could tolerate me for 4 nights let me know.

Oh hey, looks like the Auto Assembly AOL email has been hacked, I just got a spam email from it (and trying to reply to warn them just gives an error).
Of course they've not replied to any of the emails I have sent them since Feb on either of their accounts, so maybe both are broken?

I let Simon know within a few minutes of getting the email. It's not a normal AA e-mail because the ending isn't on it - all the web links. So someone just skimming [or how they do it] the email address so it looks like coming from a email when isnt - thats how you get the error on reply.

I fell for it this morning and had to run malwarebytes before leaving the house. Maybe I *shouldn't* check my email when I'm just out of bed.
The link takes you to some sort of dieting website with a noisy video about Oprah Winfrey, if anyone is wondering.

I don't think anyone at AA checks any of their emails, does anyone know a way to contact them?

Today is the cheapest I have seen train tickets for me, but that means leaving Birmingham new Street at 0715 Monday morning.

I now have a weekend ticket but more importantly, a weekend pass. That's right, my wonderful wife will drop me off Saturday morning with my boy, go off and busy herself for a couple of hours, return and collect my boy then pick me up Sunday evening. It's on. Her parents live in Stourbridge which isn't too far away so at the moment I have that to retreat to on Saturday evening if I can't find a hotel within a taxi-able distance. I'm really looking forward to meeting some of the fine fellows on this board in person and intend to share more than a few beers with you. 2012 was my first AA and although I thoroughly enjoyed it, I had very little to do other than blow copious amounts of money. I didn't really know who was who and where I needed to be. If there was supposed to be any freebies I had to collect then I missed out on them too. In short, I was overwhelmed, over-financed and overly keen but wasn't experienced enough to temper that enthusiasm. The result was that I didn't even come back on Sunday. I missed last year as I was in somewhere hot, dusty and smelly but this year I can honestly say I'm more looking forward to meeting you guys than I am anything else.

Depending on departure times for team Scotland I might pop up for lunch on Monday like I did last year.

Damn. Why did I only just now discover that this sub-forum exists? I am a blind idiot. (As evidenced by my love of Machine Wars Optimus Prime.)
Anyway, yes, I'm attending this year. My first AA. And I'm more than a little scared given some of the comments on here. And having now met some of the organising committee at other things... ;-)
Having checked train prices I also think I'll be driving down. The train's a lot more expensive than I was hoping... So if anyone wants a lift down from Glasgow-way, I might be able to accommodate. Or... I might not. But the thought's there. Although it may also be a little late...

Depending on which day you are going and coming back, would cost you £47 return for a Virgin train from Glasgow Central to Birmingham New Street. I am basing that on travelling down on the 7th and coming back on the 11th. Friday to Sunday have singles both ways from £16 each.
I would have booked my tickets down weeks ago at those prices, but my train back would have left Birmingham at 0715 on Monday morning, which would have meant I would need to kick my room mates out of the room at around 6am as it is in my name. So instead I am training it to Carlisle then getting a lift to and from there with them. Makes more sense.

Haven't sorted my travel arrangements but will be heading to Brum on Thursday and coming back on Monday. Will do that on Payday next Friday.

Does anyone know how I'd go about getting some of my custom figures on display at AA? I may not be a celebrity in the world of customising but, if I don't ask, I won't find out. I've asked on their Facebook page but so far, had no answer.
I might even have Guzzle V2 ready for sale as well...

Sid beckett has. Organised the custom class and the display or contest, but i think he was pretty fed up with it as he wasnt getting much if any help from Simon and committe. Havent heard anything about this year.

I will be there as ever. Just look out for the coolest, most sophisticated man in the room and I'll be there.
About three foot to the left of him looking daggers in his direction.

The Family and I will be in attendance on saturday only again - next year I am acutally going to book in advance and make sure I get a room..
Would be nice to catch up with some people, I generally say hi to Nick in the brief 20 seconds I have to buy something from the Toy-FU table and that's about it!

Do you think this year we might get the weekend done without it raining? It was raining during the event in 2004-2006,2009-2013. Last year we didn't notice it unless you went outside midday on the sunday. It was really bad back in 2009, I was stood under the a38 flyover near mailbox for over an hour waiting for it to stop & still got in there dripping. But i'm having look round the centre before heading back out to hotel. I did pick some stuff up in sales at comics shops back in march.

I has made YouTube video on my thoughts about this years convention: www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOebl5L1jhQI wonder if Father's for Justice will be buggering about this year? It was typical of their luck that they decided to picket an event (though I was never entirely sure what was on at the Hilton they were protesting about) at a hotel on the one weekend of the year someone going about dressed as a children's hero wouldn't really stand out.

Quick question - has anyone received an email notification with the ticket details, number etc.? I get the regular news emails and updates but don't seem to have an actual booking one. I remember this being needed at the door last year. Just thought I'd check here first before pestering the (no doubt very busy) organisers.

You should have it with the hotel link. I get the general e-mail but aren't the main updates for people who have alreday had ticket confirmation sent out.

I do have that one (with the attendee pack etc. attached) but despite it saying that the pass is also attached I can't find anything there. Checked over on the AA website and some one else had the same problem, but this was back last month. Will try contacting Simon just to be sure. Thanks.
