Ahoy all,
I remember reading a TMUK comic waaaaayyyy back when, and it contained one of the coolest gimmicks. In it, Megatron's G2 tank mode was actually a suit of armor worn by G1 Megatron. There's a part where Megs steps out of the armor and says to Soundwave, "Take my coat." I thought that was great. Does anyone remember what comic that was, and where I might find it?
Thanx!

It was an issue of The Continued Generation 2 drawn by Nick R. I believe. I can't remember the exact issue number but it was part of the story where the Cybertronian Empire invaded Cybertron.

That would have been issue 22 drawn by Jack Lawrence (but in those days he was Paul J Lawrence). This was when Megatron creates the Beast Wars characters believe it or not.

How fun! So it was issue 22 of what, exactly? I'm trying to find the actual story. And thanks for the info!

It was issue 22 of TMUK's The Continued Generation 2 which was out in April/May of 1996. It was actually the 10th Transmaster issue but we carried on the numbering from the original G2 comic. The Beast Wars toys had been announced/revealed so we wanted to come up with a way of introducing them into thew comic and then have it spin off into it's own title (which lasted about three issues if I remember) just like the Marvel comic would have to include new toys. This was all done just before the actual Beast Wars TV series came about. The strip in question was 'A Savage Experiment' written by Graham Thomson, with art by myself and Jack Lawrence. Having Megatrons tank form as 'armour' was a way to get him back to being a gun when we wanted and also so that he could return to normal in time for 2005. We also did the same to the ATB Darkwing/Dreadwind and had similar ideas for Optimus Prime. It's funny how back then, having a new body was such a big deal. There was none of this magic re-scanning/reformatting in those days! If a character gained a new body, it was built and for a good reason. Anyway, I don't know if there are any scanned versions of the comics online anywhere - perhaps some one else can point you in the right direction. Attachments:

Ah! I knew I had that story somewhere. Thanks for mentioning "A Savage Experiment" -- that's exactly what it's from. Relevant pages attached.
