Does anyone here play Pokemon X/Y?
I've become obsessed with Vivillon, since I learned it has 18 different wing patterns.

I am like... 12 pokemon away from completing the pokedex of OR. My BIG hurdle is I need to borrow some legendary trios from someone who would trust me enough to give them right back. I need the original elemental bird, and the elemental djinn trios to be specific.
Anyone here can help? Of course, I'm willing to loan out some of mine for the same reasons.

The big ones are that I need an archen, and I need to just borrow Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos so I can register them, and am happy to return them immediately.
The rest of the leftovers i can evolve from what I already have, they're just the pain the the butt types (mostly friendship pokemon). And Nintendo will have given out all the event pokemon I need before the year's out.
So I've got by now almost all of them and I can happily breed you just about anything you need. Hell, even if you can't help, I'm still happy to breed you anything you want. Got all the starters.

I did the other day, prompted by kids telling me I should. I do not wish to become addicted.

I am immune for both age and technical reasons - I was just outwith the age range that really was affected much by Pokemon when it first reached this country so I lack any real nostalgia for it, I lack a smartphone entirely and my tablet never has the GPS switched on as a point of principle... :-)

I played it for about a day but it kept freezing up and crashing and sucked battery life from the phone at an astonishing rate so it was deleted. I do feel the urge though to track down an old Gameboy version as my handset still works (the Colour model).

It's crashed on mine twice far, and the GPS is a little shonky at times, but as a way of getting me out of the house and walking, it's doing a fine job.
I'm with you on the Gameboy one though. I have a copy of Blue around here somewhere, and the nostalgia rises...

Played it for a few days and deleted it.
Nothing wrong with it, just not for me.

I'm finding it fun and frustrating in equal measure. Helps if you have folks to play with, I find.

The glitches in it make it very frustrating, but it is a fun way to spend time with the kids outdoors & walking

I just finished up regular Sun so I can get Solgaleo out to Moon and Ultra Moon... and it brought back all the Lillie feels. I swear Sun/Moon has hands down the best story of all of pokemon.

Is there a reasonably safe way of playing the original games these days? I can't seem to get into Black, but I liked the simplicity of the original games.

There's a ton of KO cartridges on ebay, they seem to work fine and are super cheap (though that was a game with a battery, no idea if those work properly for saving!)

Well, does the Virtual Console have them, or is it just a case of finding a decent emulator?
I've only got a DS tho, and I think the online store for that was closed?

Personally I find the originals to be downright painful. Requires a save every single time you touch the pokebox. Makes organizing pokemon (which takes moments in all modern games) take forever. They're also hilariously and painfully buggy.
But Nintendo does have Red, Blue, Yellow, Silver, and Gold up for 3DS in the virtual store.
