I was seconds ahead of you in the ROM thread. Unfortunately, poking about the website in question reveals that the books are only available for US residents.

I've been re-reading the DeMattis Cap run recently. 291 is a fill in issue written by Mantlo. So when I got to Bullpen Bulletins I counted up the number of titles Bill had written that month: 6 1/2!
Four were regular gigs too!
Rom Hulk Micronauts Peter Parker the Spectacular Spiderman Captain America Micronauts Special Edition (reprint) X-Men & Micronauts (with Claremont)
The man was a script machine!

A question: Which are your favourite Mantlo issues ?
I'd nominate the Power Man/Iron Fist, Nova & Galactus Rom issues that opened my mind to a wider Marvel Universe and the simply brilliant Hulk 290 (Ms Modok). (Andu & Karl: Please tell me you have read this comic)

Yes. Yes I have.
Two fave Mantlo issues.
Marvel Two in One 53 iirc the JohN Byrne illustrated issue with Adam Warlock and Spider-Man and the first issue of Rocket Racoon's Limited series.

and is it not great?
That MTU Warlock issus isn't bad at all. I'm wondering if it'll be in the Byrne/Claremont trade as there's several stories each did without the other ?

Can't think of my favourite Mantlo issue just yet but my favourite Mantlo moment is in the issue of ROM when Brandy is getting married and ROM punches the door so hard it flies off its hinges, while he looms where it once stood shouting: "BRANDY! DO NOT DO THIS THING!". A sudden eruption of violence and melodrama in one mighty panel after a fairly sedate scene.

It is indeed more than a little upsetting.
I can't wrap my head around a viewpoint that says it is ok to have a system that treats a persons medical condition like that. I just can't see how it makes sense.

It can only be the 'Total War' arc in ROM, when the book shifted gears into being a full-on war comic in which anyone could go at any moment and there were no safe characters.

I'm currently reading my way through the X-Men/Micronauts limited series which features one of the most unlikely but entertaining teamups I can imagine - not the X-Men and the Micronauts, and not the Micronauts and Baron Karza, but Chris Claremont and Bill Mantlo with a shared writing credit. For a four issue limited series it is glorious bonkers and plenty full of incident - the first issue opens with a mass battle, a planet being blown up, the introduction of a seemingly unstoppable mysterious foe.... and then the X-Men are introduced into the mix. A break-kneck juggernaut of grandstanding nonsense ensues. It may not be the best work of either writer, but it is fine entertaining stuff.
