I recently bought a few sets of reprolabels. It was my first order so I bought an eclectic collection to sample what they do and the quality. I bought some to fix up bashed G1 toys (can't wait to fix up Skywarp and Frenzy - two figures with very scuffed labels I rescued from friends), the Scoria set, and a few to just experiment with. The conversations about Beast Hunters Prowl and how Sifu's going to customise one prompted me to apply the labels I bought for that figure. I bought this sheet because it seemed to be an extreme example, and I wanted to see the lengths reprolabels go to. It's taken about six hours to do this, including the photos, and I'm not sure the end result is really worth the effort, but I do think that you could probably pick about 60% of the labels and really make a difference to the figure, but the whole lot is way too much. Including the silver windows, which just don't work. You won't see from these few pictures but I've stuck 86 labels on this flippin toy, and there are still more unused on the sheet. I think I'm now going to pull a good few off to get the balance right, but these are before and afters for Beast Hunters Prowl and his reprolabels set. The thing about the good ones is that you don't actually notice they're there unless you know what you're looking at, they just do a good job of picking out some details. The ones on his waist, thighs, forearms and knees are a good example of those. They're worth using. I like the spats effect on the feet too, but it isn't very Prowl. First up, robot before and after: Then the original car mode, without silver windows and with silver windows (I know the back of the roof isn't transformed properly, but the tab slot that holds it down didn't cast properly in the plastic, so the tab pokes it up): and the obligatory action pose:

Hmmmmm....
Hhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......
Hhhhmmmmhhhhmmmmmhhhhhmmmmhhhhhmmmmmhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.................
Very interesting indeed. I wasn't aware this set existed! Time to reward ratio is very high there, Pinwig, but a lot of those stickers look pretty good to me. I think generally there's probably a happy medium between too many and the right amount, and where that line is depends on individual taste. I certainly can't believe there are so many labels in the set?! What the frak?!
Anywho... Silver windows, nope- blue looks better, and by the sound of it they don't work anyway. Police star thingies, yes, very nice and add some colour which I hadn't realised the figure needs. Black leg arch jobbies, I think this is where we get into personal taste, I really like them, they suite the mold and suite the style of the Prime line. The black vents on his legs look nice as well, I don't think he need the foot stickers, all black seems best to me. I like the stickers on his forearms, but I don't like the ones on his robot-mode-chest-lights. In car mode, the big POLICE HIGHWAY PATROLs on the doors look fab! The detailing to the rear looks ok, but perhaps a bit busy. The big Autobot logo on the rear window isn't necessary imo. So for me, the big POLICE door stickers, and policey star stickers (gold star on light-blue) are musts. The rest, upto individual taste.
Thanks for posting this though, chumb! Very interesting set I may well look into. The door stickers alone really bring the car mode to life!

The crotch stickers look good as well, I've just noticed. POLICE door stickers really are musts.

I think generally there's probably a happy medium between too many and the right amount, and where that line is depends on individual taste. I certainly can't believe there are so many labels in the set?! What the frak?! It's why I went for it, to see an extreme example. It's way OTT. They do a similar one for Smokescreen too. These are the label sheets, you may be able to work out there are alternatives for some of them, notably a Highway Patrol one for the spoiler which is more G1 accurate and less in your face than the Police one. I might swap that over: Anywho... Silver windows, nope- blue looks better, and by the sound of it they don't work anyway. Police star thingies, yes, very nice and add some colour which I hadn't realised the figure needs. You can't see the star on the bonnet well in my pics. That sticker actually covers the whole of the front of the bonnet and duplicates the paint app on the actual toy underneath. Just makes it a bit clearer. Reprolabels' own pictures show it better, although the surround to the star is silver, not white: Black leg arch jobbies, I think this is where we get into personal taste, I really like them, they suite the mold and suite the style of the Prime line. The black vents on his legs look nice as well, I don't think he need the foot stickers, all black seems best to me. So for me, the big POLICE door stickers, and policey star stickers (gold star on light-blue) are musts. The rest, upto individual taste. I wasn't sure about the blue headlights either. You can see from the repro picture that there are a set of those for the car as well as the fake chest, but I didn't put them on as I couldn't see the point in covering over the 3D plastic moulded lights with a sticker. The black vents work well wherever they are because in most cases they're in recesses, so they give the figure definition. I came across this picture too, where someone has modded the arms to remove the roof and bonnet. I'm not sure if this still makes him transformable, but it streamlines the figure. That would be Sifu territory though, I'm not going to try that.

Yeah, Prowl is desperate for more detail. He's actually one of the worst toys in years, in terms of being under decoed. Even MORE irritating due to the fact that they don't include the BH armor Smokescreen got (who also is pretty desperate for stickers). I haven't got the Prowl set, but it's going to be in my next order.

This set is now on my list n'all! Got my BH Prowl out to double check, because I couldn't believe he is that bland- but he is! The stickers add crutial detail, and turn a good Prowl into a great Prowl! Thank you to brother Pinwig for such a comprehensive investigation! (Although by making want to buy stuff you're risking Mrs Shockprowl's wrath...) I think your experiment has shown that these stickers, tailored to individual taste, are a success!

CW Optimus is pretty badly in need of a reprolabel upgrade set. I hope he's got one coming soon.
