www.imdb.com/title/tt0478970/?ref_=nv_sr_1Hm, it seems all the original male members of the Avengers now have their own movies, but I've seen no sign of the Wasp to date, while in the early '80s Avengers TPBs that I've been reading she comes across as one of the strongest characters, and one of the most constant, as the others come and go. Combine that with the way Black Widow keeps playing number two in someone else's movie rather than getting her own, and Marvel Studios aren't doing terribly well so far to promote gender equality. Sadly the Wasp's treatment post Stern run is abysmal, which is a shame because she's such a fabulous strong character there.

Indeed after Stern leaves she does get short shrift at the hands of Bob Harras.
Although Black Widow does get a bit of time in the spotlight.
I agree, I'd love to see a Black Widow film, there is a lot of speculation that post Avengers 2/GOTG2 we will get a Carol Danvers Captain Marvel film.

Wasp was leader for a time wasn't she, during the excellent Kang storyline (I sadly have not read much Avengers pre Disassembled). Great character under-used during the time I've read Avengers. Black Widow is indeed long over due for a movie. Re-cast maybe? Scarlet Johansen has grown on me, and does a decent job as Black Widow, but I still find her a bit 'cute' in the role. Sorry I know that's not a very articulate description of her performance.

As far as I can tell the Wasp led the Avengers from #217 to #278, and was in it since issue #1, unlike Cap.

Cap joined issue 4. Wasp, while with the team since issue 1, is treated dreadfully in those early issues.
Wasp had a break from the chair from c mid 240s - mid 250s when The Vision took over.
You can count me as one of those who've always seen Cap as the natural Avengers leader. The Wasp isn't an obvious choice but did the job much better than most of the others including Iron Man and Thor.

Oh that's good news! The film should be something like: 'Ant-Man and The Wasp'.
Big Phil, thanks, yes I must try and get some of those.

Why
Why haven't I SEEN THIS SOONER?!?!?!?!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT A BRILLIANT FILM!!!!!!
Puts F4 to shame. Brilliant fun. Not enough Wasp, but.... It built for the future.

The comparison is pretty stark (no pun intended)
FF4 spends the whole movie setting up a sequel that wont happen. Antman spends the film telling its own story then just casually throws in a 10 second clip showing exactly what the sequel will be and another to preview the next MCU film.

Finally saw this over Christmas.
What was the deal with talking to actual ants? What could have been a great heist movie derailed into nonsense. 4 ants out of 11.

I'll be the first to admit that I have very little Marvel background knowledge, but there's a way to bring across the more fantastical nature of many comic book stories without it coming across as totally implausible or ridiculous. The suit, I can buy into, the ants... not in the way they were presented here.
