It always was very exciting back in the day when Marvel Uk started shifting their titles towards full-colour and weekly. Good times.

Why have I never noticed until now that Devastator shoots Ironhide in the crotch? What a fiend.

With the movement of Devastators gun from shooting Bumblebee to & the effect that may have had on Ironhide. It must have a strong after shock from the power of a large gun. But the cover does show a major important story plot line. Soundwave contacting Cybertron.

I know we are not up to #200 yet on this thread - but I was re reading it last night. Then I checked all online reviews for the issue listing the characters featured & noticed someone missing. List the characters who appear in order from the start of the issue - Ravage etc. Then see if you missed the same one out. I have quickly updated one on line site for the issue.

You wouldn't want to be the toilet-bot.
But I did check online first that in reviews no one mentions that Galvatron is stood in front of Ravage while he is talking then Ravage looks to the left to see someone else talking. When Ravage looks shocked. But with Ravage being confused at the time & going back to Target 2006 when we see Laserbeak can see Galvatron is Megatron, so I expect all the tapes can do the same.

30 years ago today some of us might have been opening the first Transformers annual. I wasn't. Despite being a holder of the sacred 332, until a few weeks ago I didn't have most of the annuals. I'm not even sure if I've read all the stories, although the IDW classics books are providing them.
But what a mind expanding treat this annual is slotted into the comic run around issue 40. Doing this anniversary reread puts everything in perspective, so here we have the first stories for a whole host of characters still some way off coming into the comic, as if they've been there all the time. It's got a kind of ladybird vibe to it because of its uniqueness.
And then there's And There Shall Come A Leader... How exciting is that? Transformers on Cybertron in a comic for the first time since issue one! I'd no recollection this is where Xaaron first appears. Furman begins the bigger picture history in a throwaway annual story!

He's almost there - right from the start. Once the Hopgood inks are gone and it's just him it's almost proper Geoff.
One thing, the mix of Senior/Hopgood - does anyone else think it feels like an IPC/Fleetway art approach?

What I did notice reading that first part is that the first six pages are absolutely Geoff Senior, but the last five look like they're drawn by someone else. Is that right?

First six look like Geoff is being inked by Kev Hopgood, the last ones are more like his style (although the lines are a bit thinner than we normally see). Part Two is where Geoff arrives fully formed as it were. Andy

A classic wrap-up to Dinobot Hunt.
Great to see a Decepticon victory, it really made the comic stand out from the usual fare where the good guys always won.

And they are NASTY in that story what with the human debris littering the forest after Soundwave and Co have been there in #48. Re-reading that recently was quite a shock.

We should also note that issue fifty contains the first use of the words SPECIAL and TEAMS next to each other in the Transformation box out talking about upcoming events.
