Sorry dont want to derail the thread, but in the process of trying to fill some gaps in the collection Ive just noticed there are 3 variants of Complete Works Part 1.
(Probably) starts out as Complete Works, then theres Complete Works Part 1 (but the part 1 is a sticker) and then Complete Works Part 1. I assume once part to was released or planned they altered the front cover, but Im wondering if anyone knows if the insides changed at all?
Struck by the thought of the Complete works originally being given a conclusion the way Part 2s ending was modified.

I did not realise this, but checking the box it turns out I own Complete Works and Complete Works Part 1 [but not the transition period sticker variant]. A quick look through and the insides appear the same, both have To Be Continued in Volume 2. Only other difference I've noticed is the price on the back cover; £2.50 on CW, £2.95 on CW Pt 1. Cool.
I now own a The Complete Works and I guess I must have already owned a Part 1 as Im sure I would have noticed the lack of it.
Part 2 was the first Transformers book I owned, or one of them. The term The complete works part 2 is burned in to my brain. I cant see The Complete Works in any context without auto completing.

I cant see The Complete Works in any context without auto completing. And it has a fitting name, because it is a complete mini-continuity in itself, one in which Shockwave reaches his hand up out of the ground, destroys the Autobot probe and then realises he probably should have waited until it had dug the rest of him out before destroying it, and is left stuck for all eternity as a purple robot arm waving in the breeze, while Optimus Prime gets to finish his speech and live happily ever after. Turns out I have 'Part 1' without the sticker. Interesting that!

Ive just had another look at the copy I just got it looks like there was a part 1 sticker on the front originally, theres a circle of glue residue. And on the back the price is £2.95. There was a gold sticker over the price so more than likely it was put on sale at some point.
45p seems like quite a big price bump, any one know how long was there between part 1 and 2 being released?

30 Years Ago This Week: Issue #306In the National Interest - Part 3: Reprinted from #77 (all eleven pages) Eye of the Storm - Part 1: The Autobots aboard the Ark take some much needed downtime causing Optimus to worry that the loss of the matrix and in the impending threat of Unicron isn't being taken seriously. Meanwhile, Grimlock flies into a rage when Waverider brings up the subject of the other deactivated Dinobots. Optimus hides a pain he is harbouring from the others, but becomes animated when he learns from Nightbeat that Ratchet may have survived the explosion in Megatron's base (Skin Deep #251). Elsewhere, Transformation excites readers by revealing the US strip will be drawn by Andy Wildman and Geoff Senior for the foreseeable future; the Ministry of Daft Ideas is invaded by Mutant Master; and on the letters' page, Blaster gets all technical about paper stock and explains that from issue 309 the whole comic, including the cover, will be printed on Kympress, which provides the best depth of colour for the art, while the new Knights of Pendragon issues are printed on more environmentally friendly Scangloss.

You can tell the editor at this point knows his audience is the long term fans, the answer about the paper types is engaging in its openness, saying kympress is actually a cheaper paper stock than the one currently used for the cover, but that it retains the colour of the ink better. This is in response to a reader asking about using the inner paper for the cover too because of that reason. Blaster gets how the letters page can be used to draw readers in, Dreadwind was the complete opposite with his dismissive lazy answers.

Blaster's doing the letters page? I never knew Blaster did the letters page. Because of his Action Master figure?

I think because he's a communicator, but yes, the AM toy has been mentioned. He's SO much better at it than Dreadwind.

30 Years Ago This Week: Issue #307In the National Interest - Part 4: Reprinted from #78 (all eleven pages) Eye of the Storm - Part 2: While Optimus listens to Nightbeat's theories, Unicron draws Galvatron back into his grasp. However, Galvatron believes he can serve his own needs. On the Ark, Kup tries to stop Grimlock taking the bodies of the Dinobots but is knocked out for his trouble. Grimlock takes his deactivated friends. Elsewhere, Transformation promises glossy covers, free gifts and a higher page count coming with issue #309; Colin falls out of a tenth floor window; Blaster promises a GI Joe Special in the summer to wrap up the unfinished Cobra civil war storyline; and in Comic Exchange, one Martin McV of Bristol would like some comics in exchange for some other comics.

Right.
Wanted: British TF 18-26, 28, 31-36, 52-53, 56-58 and Collected Comics 6 Swap: Collected Comics 9-17, American TF 40, 46, 48 and 65.
From which we deduce Martin is trying to complete his UK collection by sacrificing US issues and a whole load of CCs he has the original issues for. 6 was the Wrath of Guardian/Grimlock

That makes sense. Those were the last few comics I needed to complete my UK run, which I eventually did. But I don't think I ever did the above swap, because rather than get rid of any I also ended up completing the US run. Pretty sure I completed both my runs by buying from catalogues.

But my comics were tatty and I got rid of all of them in the end when the stories all got reprinted in books. The only TF floppy I still own is TFUS #1 signed by Bob Budiansky. And a mint condition Special Teams poster comic.
Edit: Oh, and I also kept TFUS #43 because that didn't get reprinted by Titan.

There we go, that's more like it. Delving into a little bit of history. So, were you getting rid of duplicate CCs? This is most upsetting to find your cry for help went unanswered.

But I don't.
Hmmm, not sure what I was doing with the CCs. I didn't own multiple copies of any of them, but I think I valued the early ones more than the later ones.
