The amazon and asian exclusive Protectobots came in today.
I'll just jump to the end, first. Unless you have an overwhelming need for Classics non-combining Guard City updates, or you need a $30 red Grapple, or a $30 blander TFP Prowl, then skip these. Absolutely NOT WORTH IT.
Very terrible quality control.
Groove suffers terrible, nearly fatal mold wear. Legs do not line up or peg together in alt mode, throwing the entire motorcycle off.
Blades has all the faults of the Blazemaster mold, plus poor quality.
And the worst of all, the critical knee joints in First Aid are made from the weakest, floppiest rubber you can ever imagine Hasbro use on swords "for safety." I have toys who's capes are made from firmer rubber. I can't imagine how these won't warp if displayed in robot.
Streetsmart and Hot Spot are the only ones that are decent.
That said, they all have pretty awesome individualized autobot symbols.

Holy cow batman! First aids knees, you weren't kidding. What the hell happened there?
it felt like I was going to rip the leg off while transforming. Weirdly though once in robot mode the joint work quite well holding poses and keeping him upright.
first time ive had a go at the streetwise mould. Always thought it looked decent, sadly in the plastic I found it rather dull. Its not bad, just doesnt feel as good as the best of the prime deluxes.
groove I like, but would have liked it in white silver and black more.
at $13 I think I might have been ripped of so my sympathy on the $30 purchase jetty.

And hotspot and blades open. First time with the blades mould, not bad, arms are weird, but I like the legs. The whole thing does have quite an idw whirl feel to it.
hotspot, the mould is holding up well and theres no scary soft rubber joints. Its a shame they didnt use the hotspot head, I mean it must be sat around.
There quite a bit of blue paint apps on it that remind me of g2 rts jazz so it could wind up as g2 classic inferno.

I think they're going for a Fire Chief look with the blue and the orange: www.tfu.info/1992/Cybertron/FireChief/firechief.htm

Yeah I assumed that was the case, the grapple head also makes a great defensor/guardcity head so it does work, I still would have had like the hotspot head, I knew I should have bought a bunch of hotspots when they were cheap on ebay.
Oh well with combiner wars it will hopefully be irrelevant. Ill have my hotspot and an easy repaint for fire chief and this will be g2 inferno for lack of better use.

Ive been thinking about first aids knees. While they are disturbing, I wonder if they might be a good idea. Im pretty sure I can put much more pressure on the joint with no damage than I could with prime ratchet. Stability and articulation dont seem affected. Long term I can see if perishing or something, but as most toys go to kids and are intended to be played with for a just a few years it might be a good thing for short term durability.

Hotspot looks pretty amazing with reprolabel's hotspot upgrade set. Turns him into Fire Chief REALLY well.
