If Hasbro did a series of repaints of toys already out but in G2 format - so maybe different plastics used etc & the big guns.
Would you buy them?
Then which toys could make good G2 redo's. Not just characters that where in the G2 line or comic - but new characters but done G2 style.

issue 9 - wouldn't you use newer toys? I know Roadrocket was a bit tricky to transform just at one point. Would any of the Optimus Prime have trailers?

Every choice I made was calculated, and done for a reason. There is ment to be one solid umbrella price across all twelve sets, based on two deluxes. Sets with smaller/older toys is to help offset the cost of all the new tooling. The laser cycles really stand up, and unlike other toys from that era that lack articulation (colorchangers) or have a build that's faulty long term (laser rods), they don't need the update nearly as much. Plus, their inclusion is for the true g2 fans, so the molds can be used for the listed online exclusive twopack of the unreleased Soundwave and Jazz.
Most matches are based on the cover (grimlock's set features the dinobots on the cover) or an iconic event inside, such as the first meeting between Optimus and Jhiaxus, or Megatron's duel with Bludgeon. which is also why I chose RtS Frenzy as Bludgeon's base, to represent his true form all the way. And no toy does G2 Megs better than the hero mold, which has never been done in his iconic green. Also an excuse to get rid of the bellows.
Where there was no iconic image on the cover, or iconic event inside, is when I reverted to the more obscure stuff, and tried to keep a general theme between the two. Issue 1, Sideswipe verses Starscream. Sideswipe is indisputably the mascot of G2. So he was an easy call. Adding his bandolier, Yanieger head, and BFG would separate fim from the botcon custom class figure (which I still maintain should not be allowed to be considered a canon exclusive). The most iconic decepticon I feel is Ramjet, which was beautifully done already. Megatron belonged with Bludgeon. Starscream was/is also done beautifully by the club. So I ended up choosing Starscream from Armada, justified by his importance in the overall story. Other matches being colorchanger vs colorchanger, axellerator vs skyscorcher, and ATB Megatron.
I fully admit I was scraping the barrel on issue 12.
So yeah. No trailers were ever made for either of the optimi, and older molds help to cover the new tooling costs.

Could Hasbro do a G2 combiner repaint?
Optimus with bigger guns - but who would the other limbs be?
