Nah. Given that there's a Matrix in there I think it's just some random art. Especially since the arms for Bumblebee aren't quite right. And besides, we're getting a Leader Megatron soon - I imagine it'll be a little while before we get a Masterpiece one.

I dunno. That Prime is spot on for MP10, and he did have a matrix with him. The hips and the arrangement on the stomach for the alleged Megatron are very accurate to the cartoon version. I think it's possible. Would Hasbro doing a leader Megatron really conflict with Takara's Masterpiece intentions that much? Perhaps last year was the year of the Dinobots, and 2015 is the year of the Megatron.

It raises the whole question of 'what they'd actually do' for a new MP Megatron. A gun? A G2y tank? Megatron is the elephant in the room of Masterpiece Transformers.

Evidence seems to be mounting. Who wants a wager? Magnus is almost here, Exhaust and Star Sabre both first quarter 2015. Won't be long before we'll need a new announcement for a new Masterpiece.
I'll say gun mode Megatron announced after Magnus and before Exhaust, September release date which will slip to November.

Yeah, but we've still got MP Goldbug and Bumper to be announced (no, they won't do Cliffjumper - he's a Porsche, not a Volkswagen Beetle) along with MP... er... Diaclone Battle Convoy. Gotta milk those mold repaints first! (Yes, I know, don't talk about Soundwave.)
Eh. Maybe.

Don't forget Slicer!
I think all we really have to go on is that an upcoming Masterpiece figure is called MP-25M. The M could stand for anything. These additions to the figure numbers usually describe a variant, but who knows what it's going to be.
The folks at Takara I guess.

In any case, I think it'll be a year until we actually see a figure, even if MP25 is Megatron. So no experience of The Fear here over my Apollyon pre-order any more. I'm so over that.

It makes sense that Takara would do another Megatron- MP05 wasn't well received, had a lot of design issues and the unfortunate rusting feet problem. Plus it's significantly bigger than MP10.
Mind, there are also a lot of classic characters that they haven't done at all yet. Jazz seems like an obvious one. I believe his Japanese name was... Meister...

So, what you're basically saying is that Takara are slacking, and need to get their act together?
Hurry up TakTom, we're waiting for some really bad repaints!

Anyone come across any new rumours? Seems to have gone quiet.
Apollyon is looking so good. I hope he's as good in person.
Would new MP Megatron be a gun? Would he? I can't fathom what they'd do. Guns are not politically correct, but they have the Sunbow vibe in the MP line. Has MP Starsaber broken that? Would a G2 tank Megatron be the direction they'd go? This has to be one of the biggest questions in the fandom at the moment.

It certainly puzzles me. I think he would have to be a gun. Apart from Star Sabre, which was a fan poll after all (I think to gauge interest in other eras of the line) Takara have stuck very close to the 84-86 period with the first uses of the Masterpiece moulds. A tank Megs would be very left field.

It would indeed, but I wonder if they'll go for it, after the (so far) sucess of Starsaber. I don't think they want to do a gun. I think that's why we haven't seen a new MP Megatron sooner.

Well, 6+ months later and not a sniff or a whiff of a MP Megatron. All the rumors vanished, and we're, what, approaching MP 30 by the time we get to Hound and Ratchet? My Appolyon sits on my shelf laughing, king of my Masterpiece Decepticons.... But for the official collection, for the long-suffering fandom, for What Must Be and What Is Right...
Where the heck is New Masterpiece Megatron?

Actually, I don't think it would have been because the line art is totally different to Leader Megs. Not just slightly different, totally different. The Titan Wars art we saw and the subsequent Blaster prototype image were much much closer. The Megatron could have been an aborted prototype I suppose, but the art is much more G1 hand gun than tank.
