How can the non-announcement of a toy that we were never told existed be a letdown? -Ralph The shattering of hopes and dreams! I may never date Kelly Brook, but the daily realisation of that is still a constant disappointment. There's more chance of them making a new gun MP Megatron than there is of one of us dating Kelly Brook! But seriously, it's a letdown because the lack of a new Masterpiece Megatron in the collecting world of Transformers is such a huge void that any word of one builds our hopes. MPs may not be everyone's focus, but the fact a new MP Megatron STILL doesn't exist as we approach MP30 is is is UNBELIEVABLE!

I fully believe it doesn't exist, and is low to non-priority because in this day and age, a gun megatron is completely idiotic to do. It can't sell. My country has more, stricter, and harsher laws over selling toy guns than real ones. Twelve year olds get murdered by cops in literally two seconds flat for possessing toy guns. Many countries ban toy guns outright. In austrailia, you had to register as a licensed gun owner in order to buy and import the last mp megatron. Even in japan, the culture has shifted against toy guns, making them a really hard sell even there. Takara has no market, domestic or abroad for a gun megatron.
However, Takara has also painted themselves into a corner with their borderline idiotic rigidity to maintaining accuracy to the sunbow cartoon, which prohibits them from doing another version (g2), or making a g1 accurate megatron robot, with a non-gun alt mode. (This is why I stopped caring about MPs when they shifted focus from being the ultimate version of said character, to being the ultimate cartoon representation. It limits them so horribly) Which I think really is the logic behind the oversized CW leader Megatron, being a backdoor MP Megs stand in.

The line has shot itself in the foot (he he) by being too Sunbow? Great point CJ, I think you're spot on. The 'New' Masterpiece line cannot be a full and proper collector's line without a Megatron. Can TomyTakara pull back from the over Sunbowness? Move more towards the Sunbow-Ultimate version blend? I don't any of us like over Sunbowness do we?

I'm still quite happy with MP5.
Giant skeletal cosmic rust infected (maybe) Megatron for the win!!

You can't pose, let alone fight, MP5 and MP10! It looks out-of-scale-bonkers!

I'm not going to lose sleep over it. I've got MP5 to stand with MP1, and Apollyon more than fills the hole Takara are unwilling to fill. Sometimes 3P aesthetics don't look right for the line they're intended to go with, but he works really well.

Oh sh1t yeah, Apollyon is perfect. He's spank my arse magnificent and I doubt TomyTakara could ever do a better gun-Sunbow MP Megatron, if at all they ever will or ever could/would/should (?).
I'm just aware that there are collectors out there that do not buy 3P. For them, and the MP line as an entity, the lack of a new MP Megatron is a ridiculously conspicuous void.
*kisses Apollyon*

For the ball joints on the shoulders? I've never tried that, does it work? I need to do something to Summanus's ankles as they're a bit loose.

Everyone seems to forget the existence of a G1-style gun Megatron that came out just a few short years ago. The wee Legends Megatron. I think it was in Reveal The Shield. There's your modern gun mode G1-esque Megatron. It's been done. Great toy. Does the job for me.

I'll have to try it. I wonder if the missus has any. They aren't wobbly loose, they're positionable, but he has to be balanced carefully when standing or the weight makes him fall over. The ankle ball joints aren't strong enough to hold him in place unless the weight is central above them.

But it ain't going to cut the mustard on a masterpiece shelf.

AND GET SQUISHIFIED!!!!! ooohh God the humanity aaahhhhhhh nnnooooo Have to hit him first... The usual rule of thumb is "Large mecha relies on thick armour for life, small mecha obeys the ''speed is life" rule". Your classic Big Zam/Rx-78 Gundam, Atlas/Locust, Hulkbuster/Stealth Armour dichotomy. I'm less surprised than most, jt seems that, there hasn't been another MP-Megatron. It is still the case in most domestic japanese lines that villain toys are less common than hero toys by a significant margin - the conventional wisdom is that they tend to be less popular with purchasers than hero toys. In honesty, the fact that there are as many Destrons in the MP line as there are kind of surprises me. Besides, I seem to recall there was a considerable gap between the original MP Convoy and the second version, so I'd expect there to be a similar or larger gap before a second Megatron. Karl

With MP Meg's the problem is the legs being too thin. The image in the original first post in this thread is on AA website Hasbro are using it but has more images. Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Unicron, Megatron, Matrix, Hasbro logo - to right is Megatron then to right side on view - is that Megatron? www.autoassembly.org.uk/#jp-carousel-2970
