There was just a normal HC and it collected all the stuff.
I'd just want the first DE and oversized.

Out of curiosity, are there any unofficial/fan-written books that provide an issue-by-issue overview of Marvel's Star Wars UK comic? I found a book on Star Wars memorabilia that dedicated a chapter to the Marvel series, but find myself wanting a SW-equivalent of Stuart Webb's Personal Journey/ Ryan Frost's Transform and Roll-out book. Does such a thing exist?

I don't know, alas.
In other news I picked up #108 which appears to be a one-off continuation of ye olde Marvel US series. It has gone into my 'to read' pile for now!

Star Wars Legends Epic Collection: The Original Marvel Years Vol. 3 was waiting for me when I got home. ESB adaptation (US SW 39-44) plus the 11 issues which follow including the start of the David Michelinie/Walter Simonson run. Also includes Marvel UK stories from Empire Strikes Back Monthly 149, 151, 153-157 & Star Wars Monthly 159, most of which have unfortunately been coloured for a previous collection but one does include a page missed from the original printing! Fab volume, well worth having along with it's successor due next year Star Wars Legends Epic Collection: The Original Marvel Years Vol. 4 is out in comic shops today - SW 56-73, Annual 2. www.mikesamazingworld.com/mikes/features/series.php?seriesid=4470&page=galleryThe later half of the Micheline/Simonson run is superb stuff and what follows isn't far off the pace. If you're a SW fan you need this book and the previous volume.

Picked up my digital SW issues to read again ahead of Epic 4 arriving. Michelinie/Walter Simonson run superb as ever 49-66, just an unfortunate fill in/inventory issue at 64 breaking the run of the story just before Simonson leaves. www.mikesamazingworld.com/mikes/features/series.php?seriesid=4470&page=galleryMichelinie leaving brings in Jo Duffy. Her first few issues 70-80 aren't too bad but the title has a distinct wobble post Jedi and only really goes click again when Cynthia Martin arrives on art with issue 94. My goodness, she had something, such a shame she didn't do more to a wider audience, some of her issues look amazing. www.mikesamazingworld.com/mikes/features/creator.php?creatorid=1608Would love to know why SW 98 is an inventory issue again and the intended story doesn't appear till 101 - the plot is very tight around this point and 98 should have reintroduced a character and introduced a new one.

Phil has replaced the Dark House trades of the orginal Marvel run with the Epic Collection editions. He kindly pasaed the former to me. Making my way through book 1. The Death Star has been destroyed and sensational character find Jaxxon has been introduced (I own 3 Black Series SW figs and he is one of them as he is great).
Gutted when Effie the robot bought it.
I remember these comics not really hitting their stride until around ESB. We shall see.

On to book 2. Hmmmm. Most of this does not hold up . Lots of space pirate and space gambler* nonsense. Hmmmm. Should this have stayed a memory? Vance is a good character. -Ralph I have always HATED Space Gamblers in fiction.

It does indeed pick up significantly after ESB. Less generic space pirate/gambler stuff and more proper fight-the-Empire tales and weird one offs.
The ROTJ era stories are where I have proper nostalgia from the old Marvel UK weekly.

That Micheline/Simonson run is superb and IS Star Wars comics for me. Fab post Empire to Isaklon. Tails off significantly post Jedi but picks up again in the issue 90s when Cynthia Martin comes on board

The Goodwin/Infantino run before ESB is very dated and generic, even for its time.

That Micheline/Simonson run is superb and IS Star Wars comics for me. Started that run in the #50's now. Oh yes, what a difference. A completely different and much much better comic, actually taking advantage of the IP rather than generic bollocks. -Ralph

On book 5.
*screams*
It skips the ROTJ adaptation!!! But the back covers say this is "the entire Marvel Star Wars comic-book series"!
Damn you, Dark Horse Comics of 2003!!!
