From this very thread I can see something that's not in there and inexplicably not in the Dark Horse volumes that I would expect to see in Epic Collection 4 or 5.....

Glad that's sorted.
I also mentioned it when I first offered the books to you.
ROTJ's exclusion is most baffling and is right up there with leaving America out of the Dredd Case Files!

On to Annual #3, which is my strongest and earliest memory of Marvel SW from when it was in ROTJ Weekly. The last page of the story made a lasting impression on me.
Quite enjoying Jo Duffy's scripts. Arguably gets a consistent tone for SW better than prior writers.
Now for #80 and then the ROTJ adaptation.

On to Volume 7 and the end of the series. Jo Duffy's scripts are excellent. If only she had been the writer from the start.

I prefer Micheline's post ESB run to Duffy's overall but her issues with Cynthia Martin in the run up to 100 are gold

I'm impressed with how fast you're reading these, Doc. If I could read that fast I'd be doing runs like that myself.

*moves on to #98* *screams* Oh fuck no, Archie Goodwin is back. -Ralph One issue www.mikesamazingworld.com/mikes/features/comic.php?comicid=5772798 has the look of being an inventory issue. 99 too possible as Frenz hadn't drawn an issue for a while Every so often SW used something inventory. You wouldn't believe the story about 52 and 53's origins but you don't need to look too closely to spot the alterations 78 had also been in the drawer for a while. 83, 84 & 86 aren't be the regular team either and contribute to the title trying to find it's feet post Jedi

#107 read. Good last issue even if clearly frantically tying things up with the series being canned.
The comic fell into three phases (fill-ins and inventory issues aside).
1: Utter shite under Goodwin. Very dated for its time, utterly generic and limps from issue to issue without a clear series premise. Awful. Vance and Jaxxon are fun and memorable characters. Otherwise...no.
2: Solid title under Micheline. Starts to develop a continuity to the series and a level of quality that was not there before. Good comic.
3: Sheer joy under Duffy. Dense, clever and humorous scripts. Suddenly becomes a genuinely great comic. Loved it.
What happened to Duffy? She should have been a big comics star.
A rare series that gets better as it goes on.

Bounced around Marvel and DC, I believe on staff for both - did some Catwoman stuff and was the writer when her solo book launched out of Knightfall with Jim Balent on art.

Glad that's sorted. I also mentioned it when I first offered the books to you. ROTJ's exclusion is most baffling and is right up there with leaving America out of the Dredd Case Files! The subsequent Dark Horse Omnibus collection does have the RotJ mini series in, so they did at least correct that second time round.

Oh, dang. There was something on there that I'd completely forgotten she'd written that jumped right out of the list and blindsided me. Yeah, she was a really good writer who never quite got the profile she deserved I think. Karl
