IDW's Swerve and Tailgate

I've snapped and bought a Generations Legends Swerve! And I plan to get a Tailgate. Damn you Ayres!!!! I had both Swerve and Tailgate as a boy, and they enjoyed many adventure together when I was in a mini-Autobot mood. I wasn't going to get them, they hadn't quite made 'the cut'. But my love of the new Legends and Big Phil's in particular praise of Swerve made me buckle like so much over-stressed steel.

So, I was wondering, who are these characters these days? I don't want to read the TFwiki entries, 'cos they'll go all into IDW's story-line and I may want to read the comics one day. I was hoping, therefore, my beautiful Cyber-darlings could give me a howe-down on who they are and what they're personalities are like. Please don't worry about the odd spoiler, I'm a big boy I can handle it, but who are these little bots? Who are Swerve and Tailgate?

Swerve is a motormouth bartender who can't shoot straight to save his life.

Tailgate is a young Transformer from ancient Cybertronian who was involved in an accident and ended up sitting out the entire war damaged and non functional under Cybertron. Revived just before the Lost Light's launch he was taken on board by Ratchet and has been adjusting to modern times in the care of Cyclonus.
