Indeed. That video does not make that toy look like this. Takara are more subtle with their photoshopping on publicity pics than Hasbro.

To be fair, that's how Hasbro always photoshopped their toys too. Every time I see a beautiful shining figure like that I just think "oh boy, what's that actually gonna look like?"
It's a shame, as when they actually use nice grey plastic (as with some of their Megatrons) it looks fab.

Grey is nearly always a mistake for toys I feel. It always ends up looking so cheap and flat. You can tell the designers always envisage a nice shiny silvery grey, but it never turns out like that! Given it's used a lot as Transformers are robots, I always thought Hasbro should have invested in a nice grey plastic stock. I think that lighter greys work better when there is some sort of accent colour. (I'm talking the sort of "sea grey" and "military grey", rather than the near-black "ash greys" kind of thing). I've got a couple of things out on the display shelves at the moment which look terrific in grey - but one has black trim and the other uses two different greys to add contrast. Grey is a great "non-descript" colour - one of the reasons it is used so much for modern aircraft and urban camo etc - but it isn't "pretty" if you see what I mean, so you need to play about with the rest of the colour palette to make it really work I feel. Does that grey even match the air vehicon general? It looks like an unpainted prototype!

I didn't think these would last long: although Grimlock and Rumble/Frenzy were still available when I went to bed last night, they're gone this morning.

I hadn't realised TFA Drift was in different colours. Such a nice mould. I wonder if the combo of the sheer orange ess of the RID version plus it being an actual RID toy controubutes to it being overlooked.

Different head too, isn't it?

Yeah. TF Adventure's drift repaint is based on the G1 character, down to his new head. They still did an orange one that's based on the show, too. Can't remember if it's louder, or more subtle than the hasbro version, though. But they at least painted his beard.

Is that a visor on the Jazz?
I'm going to have to have that Battle Grimlock I think. He looks like what that toy should have been in the first place.

Yeah, I'd have gone that way anyway I think. HLJ seem to be a customs magnet and I like to buy where possible knowing the true price without CUTA lurking. Same reason why I've never really got on with BBTS. It strikes me that by the time you've added all the extra charges on, the prices are pretty much the same from places like Omegalock and Kapow. The trick seems to be to get Robot Kingdom parcels through unscathed, that has enough difference to make it worthwhile.

Ooh yeah, glad I've got that Drift pre-ordered. Not quite MTMTE style, but close enough.

I have now seen the repaint of Generations Scoop into G2 Autoroller chap in the plastic. Lovely colours.

I do much prefer the autoroller deco over scoop. The colors are so nice, and muted. It's very flattering on the mold.

Gosh that Grimlock looks good. Maybe they aren't fully released yet? Kapow still only have the Adventures figures on deposit preorder, which usually changes when their shipment is inbound.

Yeah. That's the definitive Grimlock for RiD. Right size for the Warrior cars. I think for this whole range all you need is this; Warrior Bee, Strongarm & Sideswipe; Legion Fixit and EVERY THUNDERHOOF EVER MADE
and you're done. Then - genuine 3P need - the trailer they cart Grim around on.
Done!

Yeah, I do very much like that Grimlock. It actually looks a lot better suited in that deco, and in that line than the original FoC mold did. Which was terrible. But this, I'd consider getting - if I could ever find it for the same cheap price I got FoC Grimmy from...
