I find it most amusing that the only picture to escape has some guy stood in the wrong place. How many people in the world have been shouting get out of the way! At their screens today...
I see TFW have noted the box has six discs on the side, implying six members in the team. Thank goodness. I really hope this is all it should be.
Edit: oop I see primenova noted that too. I always get caught out by proboards not having a next page link at the bottom.

Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh yeah. My only complaint so far is that clearly he comes packaged in combined gestalt mode. Which is understandable, but still annoys me - taking a giant robot out of a box and taking it apart is nowhere near as exciting as taking several smaller robots out of the box and building a giant robot. But still, it looks promising... Genuinely curious, what makes you conclude that? I can't see anything in the photograph to suggest one way or another as to how it is packaged myself. Karl |

Multi-packs tend to get packaged in whatever makes it either look more dynamic, or what will save the most space.
What mode a toy is pachaged in boils down to what hasbro sales thinks is most exciting to kids. This is why they package every "normal" toy in robot now, to show the kids "Hey, look at this kickass robot! It's totally not a normal car!"
You notice this mentality most when the alt mode is something very unique, like the predacon dragons. "Kids! Look at this neat robo-dragon toy!"
Example: every western masterpiece was released as a robot, except Grimlock.
The "farmageddon" set, optimus and the decepticon are in robot, while rollbar is in vehicle, to look dynamic.
The aoe autobot fivepack they're all vehicle, simply for space. (I think they are, at least)
If there's no windows, this is all likely to go out the door, and the visual sale rules don't apply.
For Devastator, the most "exciting" way they could package it would be AS Devastator.
Though personally, I would package all the componants in devastator mode, but not combined.
If Dev didn't have a window box, then he probably would be packaged in a way to save space.

And yeah, I understand the mentality of making a toy look appealing and dynamic, but, dammit! When I saw a toy car in a shop with a picture of an awesome robot next to it (because, come on, the G1 box artwork was gorgeous, wasn't it?), I had to get the toy so I could find out what it was like myself! There's no sense of mystery or anticipation these days. But then, I guess we live in the age of t'Interwebs and t'instant gratification. Youngsters. Why, when I were a lad...

That box side does look slim - but is that the back of the box - looks like its got shots of the toys on it you can see white bits & purple that would have an action written on it.

What I'm loving on TFW are all the people who take every possible negative comment or opinion as fact and then begin whining about it until it is disproved, but then pick up on a poorly phrased sentence and start on that
"they look a bit simple2 = "OMG!!!!! they dont have individual robot modes"
"they look like they could be up scaled like Beast Hunters" = "Arrrrgghhhhhhhh! They are up scaled legends toys"
its as though they are incapable of hope or joy.
The current on is that Mixmaster is up side down in leg mode, based on one blurred photo, admittedly it could be, but could just as easily be mistransformed. As you know, its Hasbro who are unable to transform their own products.

Eitherway, their threads are fun and irritating to read at the same time. Virtually completely devoid of common sense, with those few who DO provide a bit of common sense get railed on until driven out.

Nope. I've just had a quick look in the mirror, and I don't think that that's quite normal. It's definitely not as bad as some...
As to Devastator himself... Yeah. I'm not a fan of the head - it looks too small. Somehow. And I want to know where the wings on the chest come from. I know that that was an original feature, but I like it when all the toy parts are contained, and not accessories. Although I realise that with CW the horse has already bolted on that one...
Still, all that said... It's an official Devastator! And it actually doesn't look bad at all. Yes please.

It's the purple strip down the middle, which insinuates penis, and then draws attention to the two panels either side which are a different colour and makes you think bollocks. Id the middle and the sides had been the same colour I wouldn't have thought a thing! |

Taking in to account Hasbro convention people can't pose or Transformers for love or money I think it looks pretty good. As is in the photo the proportions look a little off. The head is too small, the arms are ever so slightly too small, but I prefer that to CW deluxes that make slightly too large arms.
