Leeds Smyths have 2 Ultra Magnus' in stock £44.99 - while the Generations toys are sat with the £10 price tags on them.

I say it again. If I see a CW Magnus in the wild I will take a photo of me eating a hat. -Ralph Shall we hold a hat eating contest in Smyths? First we have the testimony of a sighting from The Kaptain from the Falkirk branch of Smyths. Then Mr Hippobot of this parish was in another store, presumably a Wegie one and found.... Are but don't forget, it is Doc' who actually needs to see one before hat eating commences. The net does look like it's drawing in though. Is it only a matter of time...?

I shall abide by fair play. If I see one in a shop I shall take the appropriate pictures.

My LG14 Ultra Magnus finally arrived from HLJ this morning, 29 years + 5 days after I received the original G1 toy. Not a bad figure, though Alpha Trion is ridiculously fragile. His right arm was detached in the box and drops off whenever you look at him.
I'm also slightly disturbed by Robots in Disguise Tai's appearance in the comic. Not only is she in the wrong continuity, she seems to have lost most of her clothes when crossing the multiverse.

I went Japanese with Ultra Magnus. I think the red thighs make the toy.

I went Hasbro and Reprolabels. Which shouldn't have to be a choice, but I was born with the word "sucker" on my head...

Oh I forgot there was a repro set for him. I must get those. Although I have a list an arm long now of repro label fun yet to be applied. I had near orgasmic delight last night sticking 50 or so labels on Thunderbird 2, but there is much Transformers work still to be done.
Err, on topic, white thighs for the win! much cleaner looking. I know I strive for G1 accuracy mainly, but white Magnus won that one.

Thing is both Hasbro and Takara versions are pretty good, but I think the Takara one just edges it.

It must be said, I do actually really like the white thighs. I may end up not applying those stickers. I CAN'T DECIDE.

Course not. A sheet of stickers, or 72 extra tampos and a toy that costs twice as much?
Stickers are your friend!

Stickers are not my favourite things but, as Soundwave would say,
Stickers Superior, Decals inferior.
Stickers may irritate me, but Decals fill me with genuine terror.

Meanwhile from rumourland: Powermaster Prime will get a repaint in blue as Magnus Prime (super Ginrai) Magnus Prime, which is a blue redeco of Combiner Wars Ultra Magnus, as a reference to the Diaclone Ultra Magnus. These seem to conflict a little! Personally I'm hoping for the second as that's a more traditional Magnus recolour and it'll be interesting to see the original version of the toy Headmastered. And Andu will be forced to buy it. The repaint I'd like to see on the PM Prime version is black as Scourge/Nemesis Prime ala Nucleon Quest Super Convoy. www.tfu.info/2001/Autobot/NucleonQuestConvoy/nqconvoy.htm

I have money ready for a Diaclone coloured version. Think it's a missed opportunity that the Movie Platiunum set didn't go for that option.

This is the transformers fandom. When have you ever known anyone to be pleased?
The only thing we like more than alien robot toys, is bitching about alien robot toys.

But not, in this case, without reason. I mean, it's not like they've just stuck a long-desired fan-favourite Marvel comics character in a box set or anything...
Although I do agree - Diaclone-coloured Magnus in that box set would've been great.

NQ Convoy is not a Nemesis Prime/Scourge!!!

No he's not. But I'm not 100% sure where Decepticon Leaders are coming from in this line, and PM Prime looks fab in black, so a Nemesis Prime inthe style of Nucleon Quest Super Convoy would be good.
By the time Nucleon Quest Super Convoy was sold the Black Prime = Evil Prime thing was firmly established in Car Robots and the Micron Legend evil Op was around the time this came out. Never understood why he wasn't a Decepticon Scourge/Nemesis Prime.

Maybe Takara wanted to release a Convoy (given the other colours were Ginrai)

I think we did Scourge, by name in top 5 toys a while back and you said the same there.
However I can tell you now that the very last character we'll do a top 5 for will be Black Evil Optimus Primes so you're going to get another opportunity to give the same answer.
