Well, basically the whole thing was over dramatised with Steve Wiebe and Billy Mitchell exchanging the high score actually with a third player not mentioned in the documentary.
Billy hammed his character up, playing the villain.
The DK WR still continues to be beaten. Dean Saglio cracked 1.2m in 2013, no one thought that would be beaten. But 3 years later Wes Copeland got the new WR by only 12k. Scores that people thought would stand for a long time.
But just a month ago, Robbie Lakeman cracked up 1.23m. Most following his progress knew he had talent, but this was still incredible.
The interesting thing about DK is the fixed nature of the game and pseudo randomness. Sometimes the game will put you in situations where you're just gonna lose a man, other times allow you to score big. Yes the best players can set certain things up (watch a video 16k on 1-1 for some crazy stuff), but sometimes the game is just against you.
For context my PB is 107k, 5-1.
