I think in spider mode, they're chunky mandibles. Can't really tell about the bot.

Yes, but they're really chunky, suspiciously boob-looking mandibles! And it's not like they needed to do that, the toy had a fine body before they made those mods!

The Blackarachnia is fantastic til you get to the big transparent boobs. Which is double bad as it means the spider mode has boobs hanging off its head instead of fangs! What are you doing, Takara?!??! I like the change at least in robot mode. Its not better, but is more screen accurate, which after nearly 20 years is kinda what I want.

Likewise I kinda like the fake raised waist they have given Nightbird. TT efforts to get all of Arcee's features into the mould did leave it slightly oddly proportioned. Nightbird isnt fixed, but the oddness is hidden a bit.

Hang on, is Slipstream a remould rather than just a new head? the wings look wider in those pictures. I have absolutely no need for this figure, but can't help feeling drawn to it. It just looks cool.

Well, my Blackarachnia has been despatched from HLJ, so at some point in the not-too-distant future we'll have answers concerning her stomach. And whether the boobs hanging from her face actually look that bad in hand...

I'm not seeing any remoulding on Slipstream, but I would bite for her. Wouldn't go near the Windblade colours but...

The only difference I see is Slipstream doesn't seem to have the sword handle sticking out of the back of the plane...
I could very well be wrong, but I thing it's just the angle and a superior paint job making the wings look that way.

Has anyone yet had their Blackarachnia from HLJ? I'm just wondering on delivery time. Got her and Slipstream yesterday. To be honest, she's not quite right. They did something that screwed up the mold, because her head is like three feet above her shoulders, and there's a HUGE gap in the neck assembly that wasn't really visable in the original release. She looks better in the promo pictures than in person. Having the toy I realize they could have done the same thing using the BM mold with just a new head, and it'd have been a bit more accurate. LOVE LOVE LOVE Slipstream. She is seriously amazing, and worlds better than either Wingblade in every way.

There's two things going on here: There is a fault in the mould: the left and right shoulders have been swapped round on assembly with no easy way to fix. However if you've got a HUGE gap in the neck assembly you've not transformed the toy right: I made the mistake first time out. The chest plate, including the the talons, slides up. Push up on it from bellow and it should rise up all but covering the gap and making her look a lot more like the pictures. Excessive force will be required as the slider is very Very VERY stiff.

Getting it all the way in to place was a nerve wracking experience. Didnt notice the shoulders, do the cause any problems I didnt noticed?
Its amazing what the new head does. Animated BA has always been a quite short character because of the big head. Legends BA has a much smaller head and the mould now looks far taller and a little more elegant.
I do haver a horrible feeling that she looks like a GPS victim waiting to happen. Theres a nasty swirly pattern on her weapon that already looks like its has cracked. It hasnt, but looks like it should have.
Also I have to say I'm loving the legends boxes, they really capture what I loved about the original 84-87 pacakging without slavishly copying it like the Hasbro reissue boxes from the early 2000s.

Dammit. I'm still waiting for my Blackarachnia from HLJ (although given I'm in the Lands North of the Wall, things do take longer to get here - like nice weather, for starters...), but hopefully soon.
I say "hopefully", and then I read all the comments. Dammit. I've been so looking forward to this figure. Now I'm going to have to have the terror when it finally comes time to firmly - but not too roughly - lift and separate the breasts. So business as usual there...
