Since Buticus is being teased this far in advanced I'm thinking of sitting out the Hasbro version, bar Blast Off cos CW Decepticon jet!

Yeah I am not going to bother with the CW version now. I also must sell my CW Superion and Menasor..

Why are Hasbro not getting these guys out? I mean, if Takara are making them anyway...

Different markets. Nowt more mysterious than that.
And at the risk of being pedantic, Takara haven't existed for years. Tomy make Transformers in Japan. Check the company stamps on recent toys and the copyright info on packaging.

There's rumours Groove failed the drop test. Take with a pinch of salt.

It would be hilarious if Hasbro did a Deluxe Groove and it was his legend toy upscaled!

Since Buticus is being teased this far in advanced I'm thinking of sitting out the Hasbro version, bar Blast Off cos CW Decepticon jet! Definitely. We'll have seen exactly what Takara are going to do by the time the Hasbro version hits, so it won't be a problem. The question I am looking forward to an answer to though is how Takara will colour theirs. We know we're getting toy and toon versions from Hasbro. I want a grey chest plate on mine.

I still can't believe, that in 'The Line That Ate Itself With Repaints' (as, perhaps, The Good Doctor may say), money could not be found, SOMEWHER'ST, for a Space shuttle mold, nay, a 'heavy retool' into something APPROACHING a Space Shuttle, or heck-a-dumpling a 'Space Plane'! You know, one of those futuristic jobbies they say I'll be going to the Moon in in a decade or so. Let's face it, the Aerialbot repaint is sh1t. It's bollocks. It's just just just awful. Weak. PATHETIC!!! ONE. REPAINT. TOO. FAR. And I love the line.

Especially on the combiner with it's G2, Operation Combination and RiD (3!) versions was the repaint motherlode.

It does make you think. This line has clearly been very carefully planned as far as mould use goes, so why did Brawl get the new mould for one use in this wave when doing him from Rook and giving Blast Off a shuttle would be less jarring?
Following Hasbro's logic it would be because Swindle is a remould of Rook and they've never had two of the same base mould in the same wave. Could be that simple.
Also makes you wonder if the Brawl mould will get a reuse anywhere as a one shot in this line seems unlikely.
I find all this fascinating. We look for patterns in the mould use but can't find anything definite. Perhaps it goes as far as the parts for different moulds that are gang moulded. I'd love to talk to the person that worked all this out.
Edit: the one use per mould per wave theory also negates blast off being an alpha bravo remould because of vortex.

Better translation of the tweet posted on TFW:"There are many characters that you look at and ask yourself, "why there's so much difference between the anime and toy designs?". Also, looking at the old guide books you'll notice that many of those guys were based on early prototypes or non-good designs. There's so much stuff to pay attention to when you're designing the remake of these guys"

I think I like the Hasbro deco more on Motor Master. Better hip ratchets though would be most welcome.

Yeah, I think that the Hasbro deco looks better too. But it's just a matter of taste, I guess. There are, however, plenty of third party people that are doing replacement hip ratchets.
