Got a free Marvel 75th anniversary mag with my comics today.
No sign of the X-Mem or FF on the cover.
You do sometimes wonder of Rich Johnstone might be on to something.....

It's an absolutely ludicrous situation. I mean it's not like any of the Marvel movies have had a significant impact on the sales of the comics (one of the reasons that Bob Harras ended up getting the boot in the end).
I just want a proper Marvel comic universe, if I want the marvel films I watch the films.
Pisses me right off.

This... this is terrible. It's shocking. F4 have been the best stories I've read over the years. They're brilliant characters, vital to the Marvel Universe. Marvel should hang their heads in shame, then grow up and do what's right. Good grief.

Is the comics set in the Marvel universe which is being changed by secret wars or is it the TV series but in comic form? If first then it'll change with all the other comics if the last then it should be like the TV series - unless the characters look like that in the other Marvel comics ie Coulson doesn't look gyrrick like, Trask is a small guy, Human torch is black,

Marvel Universe in a title as yet unchanged by Secret Wars. But even if SW changes bring Marvel comics closer the TV work I still hate them.

To the fox/disney: There *is* a rumor I've heard hear-say about that Disney and Fox may have come to an understanding. Rumor doesn't say if it's like the deal with Sony over Spiderman, or if Disney is in the process of buying back X-Men. But if Disney doesn't get control, I'm fully expecting them to cut off marvel's nose to spite their face, and not only sink X-Men, but retcon mutants out of existance. They already killed Wolverine. That's like... One of the signs of the end of the world, right there. And they're already replacing mutants by shoehorning Inhumans into the exact same role. And you know, it's all about not sharing profit. Because it's not like Disney doesn't see money coming in from Fox's marvel Licenses. They just get it on the back end as any franchise owner does. Just like they could have brought Wolverine and the X-Men over onto the Disney Channel, instead of having it cancelled so fox couldn't make anything off it. But if Disney got X-Men back, they'd drop the inhumans like a bad habit. Both in cinema and comics. Well, I found out I was right about Disney getting rid of X-Men. The Terrigen Mists released into the atmosphere to create the explosion in inhumans has been written to not only kill mutants, but sterilizes them as well. If Fox and Disney don't get the fuck over themselves, Disney like the trash it is is going to execute one of the most iconic and profitable brands in history, just because they don't want to share.

Yes but to be fair, not long ago all Mutants on Earth were wiped out by magic powers apart from around 100. How did that work out for you, Marvel?

Comics run in cycles. All of this will pass. All of this will come again.

Yes, but they only just got out of that cycle they weren't meant to speed up to get back to that stage so damned fast!

What if Marvel writers did not suddenly change the comics to tie in with films. Ie Apocalypse turning up in X-men just on the year of the new film. Civil War 2 wouldn't be happening if not for the film. But how many plots have had to be stopped or lost because of this? Like with Hulk - Peter David had to drop a plot line he had been buidling up to then he quit because he couldn't go back to it. Deadpool is only showing up everywhere because of the film when a few years ago Deadpool was getting cancelled more times than Spider-girl.

Deadpool's been showing up everywhere for many many years, that's not film related at all. He is a genuinely popular Marvel character!
But virtually every major marvel decision in the last few years does seem to be tied into the films or related to the politics behind them:
FF disband Spider man can shoot organic webs Nick Fury is black Anything related to the Inhumans Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver aren't Magneto's children Agent Coulson is suddenly a big Marvel character.
Even down to what older stories are being reprinted quite frequently tie in to something happening. Daredevil gets a TV series? Quick, publish an epic collection for him cos there isn't one already.

I thought that it was only the Ultimate Nick Fury who was black? And that happened before Sammy J. came along?

You should see the hoops they jumped through to make out Nick Fury black too!

I thought the main Marvel Comics universe had two Fury's now - one the original Nicholas Fury and one the Samuel L Jackson looking one who generally just got called "Fury" by characters to obfuscate the issue for the readers.
I take it that it is more complex than I realised?

Yes the whole 'replace Nick Fury with a black version' is a real headscratcher. Now just imagine if it had been done the other way around.

Lets have Bishop a white bloke. I don't think it would work because Bishop does have the US back story with all that them not liking black guys back when X-men first showed up (that whole thing with the pentagon & toilets is bad). But the character was introduced to counter all the views of people & that we are better than them. But the US still have those guys I'm not going to state their letters.

Hmmm. I'm not entirely sanguine about the idea of Disney buying up even more of the US Entertainment industry. They are a pretty big fish as it is, not sure whether it is a good thing for them to swallow another major studio.
I would laugh if Sony managed to buy Fox out from under them though. (Yes, I know it is the most far-fetched idea I've had in a long time. But the thought still amuses me.)
