Anyone remember the water puzzle from 3? I'm nearly upto that scene again on my current rewatch. Sure it was 4 litres? Fill 5 up & poor into 3. Empty 3 & poor 5 into 3. then fill 5 up & poor into 3 so 3 full - then 4 left in 5 litre. that is if it was a 5 & 3 litre bottles & to get 4 litre to stop the bomb. You've had it if you are to place 9 litres on the device. You can get 1-8 litres in just a few moves.

DIE HARD!!!!!!
I love Die Hard. But still haven't see 5...
My fifth favorite film of all time is-
DIE HARD 2: DIE HARDER!
I love it. Even more than the magnificent original. It's just brilliant action movie goodness.
So to answer yourquestion, Nova-
2,1, 3, 4.
I've enjoyed all of them that I've seen. 1, 2 & 3 being better than 4, with 1 & 2 in a league of their own. True greats.

Seen "Die Hard", which I believe to be the finest of them - I think it is unfairly overlooked these days because people forget how different it was in its day. So much of what made it revolutionary has become part of the "grammar" of not just films but television shows in the years since that it no longer has the sense of the unexpected that it once did. Seen "Die Hard 2", which is fun and has a great "end of act 2" twist.
I know I've seen Die Hard 3 but I thought it achieved a resounding "meh", so I haven't bothered with the other two. I am a great believer in voting with my feet.

Watching Die Hard 2 RIGHT NOW on the telly. It's a timeless actionfest. It's briliant. Apart from when the airplane crashes...

I have yet to watch Die Hard 5. I forgot it existed until this very moment. It came near the tail end of Bruce being a star before entering straight-to-DVD oblivion.

5's not bad. Decent enough romp. Nowhere nesr as good as 1, 2 or 3. On a par with 4.
I wonder.... Should the series be finished now? Or do you think they could ever get back that 'Die Hard sparkle' that 1, 2 and 3 had? (And I do think 3 had it too, although it's not as good as 1 and 2).

Okay, so Die Hard and Die Hard 2 were both based on books. Different books by different writers.
The book Die Hard was based on was a sequel to an earlier book, which had been adapted into a Frank Sinatra film years earlier.
It's pretty crazy.

Bruce is no longer a star who can headline movies so I would say it's unlikely by this stage. His films go straight to home video formats now. I think the last film he was in that did well in theatres was Gi Joe: Retaliation and even then he wasn't the star. -Ralph

But wasn't the third film also originally an unrelated script that had floated around Hollywood for a while before getting retooled as a Bruce Willies vehicle? Karl.

Im probably alone in this but find most of 4.0 a lot of fun.
5 is terrible.
I've always felt 16 Blocks could have been dubbed to make a good Die Hard film. Certainly better than 5 and more grounded than 4.

So it was planned to be Sinatra sequel to 1966 The Detective but he turned it down, then was to be follow up for Arnie 1985 Commando but he said No. They then gave it to a TV actor & made $168 million - thats going by wiki page which we are always told is incorrect everything on wiki

Watching 'Vengence' now.
It's a bloody good film, you know. Great detail. Great supporting cast. Brucey on top form. Him and Samuel L. are brilliant together.

2 has a special nostalgic place in my dirty vest covered heart. But 3 certainly has the McTiernan Factor.

Speaking of Die Hard, this happened to come up on my FB memories from 2 years ago. I posted it originally as Murray doing his John McLane impression.

Ralph has finally seen his favourite Christmas film in a cinema (Die Hard). Local fleapits have it on every year but this was the first time there was a showing I could get to.
Most folk turned up with pints of beer and/or pished and I feared the worst but there was a good atmosphere as the film played.
