Ahh the quiz, the beer was terrible, but at least it was alcoholic, the atmosphere and people much, much better.
I am attending Botcon this year and will be dragging my poor wife with me this time, quite how I managed to get her to agree to come is still something of a mystery at the moment.
I think I too am going to have to do some revision for the Board wars quiz, if I make the team that is. I hope that they have some new questions this year as the ones last year were the same as the year before.

I think I only recognised that they were the same because the first year I was sat back providing much needed support.
That said the questions did range from the ridiculously esay to the rock hard, and there was a definate US comics and cartoon bias,
I am hoping this year for a few more UK comic based questions since IDW are putting out a bit more of what we grew up with.

That was no fun 1 hour and 1 mins trying to get the fax sent.

I finally got mine off today at 3:15pm. I had left early for work this morning to stop at the local library to send the fax and the blasted thing wouldn't go through at the time. Now just have to wait for the e-mail to confirm it's receipt, which is always fun - Tony

Hang on, registration is still fax-only? Can't be done on-line? Do they know it's 2008?
Anyhow, I hope both your faxes went through ok.

Yep, it's still fax only. I got my confirmation e-mail to say it had arrived, so at least that's one less thing to worry about. I hope Andy's went through OK.

Dont get me started, I sent a fax via an online service, Ice got a confirmation it was recieved and can view the file that was sen yet everyone is supposed to have got n email confirmation from FP yesterday if they got your fax. I didnt get one so either I screwed up the international dialing and my credit card info is in some random persons hands or they screwed up on there end and I'll miss out on some of the stuff I waned to do. Either way pissed off.

It always astounds me that registration is by fax or post and not available online. Meanwhile, just about any UK convention is registration by internet or post, not a fax in sight. I can only assume that it is down to cultural differences and home faxes are very common in the US, which they are not here.

No its just that FP insist its not feasible because they need a signature along with the credit card info.

What? Are you sure? Because that makes no sense whatsoever. They have online stores that take credit cards, for goodness sake!

No its just that FP insist its not feasible because they need a signature along with the credit card info. Andy I definitely smell shite there. If your online store can process cc's without signatures then add the registration process there. It's not bloody difficult. It's so much easier registering online (which I've done for both Transforce and Auto Assembly in the past) no hassle and faxes are bloody unreliable. Andy

Well that was the latest reason, I think they've also said its because the site couldnt handle the immediate rush, when the forms first go up. Email wouldnt work because you dont know how long it will take to arrive. As if fax is so much better. Some people got through first time other me included were trying for over an hour. And Aas mine wasnt recieved I'll be right down the pecking order of the first come first sreved system. If I thought I'd done something wrong fair enough but Ive now checked everything including phoning the fax service. Nothing wrong that I can see. Im still a little annoyed. Oh and theres no one to contact over the weekend. So forms up on Friday was almost as smart as last years Saturday nigh.

If a convention accepted delivery by falcon it would be the best convention ever. FACT. Andy True. There would be something rather fantastic about that. As to Botcon. There is something "unjoined-up" about the fact that they demand registration by post or fax, but then send out the confirmation they have received your registration by email. That someone seems to make very little sense. Also, I'm going to send my debit card details by fax - not a particularly secure or authenticated system of transfer. No, I don't think I would actually. I believe Scotcon should employ falcon-based delivery from now on. Or at least pigeon. After all the senior Turnbull has hundreds of the fuckers.

If a convention accepted delivery by falcon it would be the best convention ever. FACT. Especially if they sent the falcon back and it could now transform into Airazor.

The first guest was announced a few days ago. (First guest announced just one month from the convention!) It's David Kaye.

"Bumper" Robinson, the voice of Animated Bumblebee, has also been announced. Simon Furman has also said he'll be there as part of the IDW panel.
Not long now, just over three weeks til we're off!

I had a little chuckle when I saw that Bumblebee was played by someone called Bumper. I'd love it if he had a brother called Cliff J Robinson.

Not long to go now, I was just wondering who from the hub was going this year? I couldn't work it out merely by lurking so I thought I'd better pipe up and actually contribute a question...
Are there any plans for when we are all there? I have been building up how friendly and entertaining everyone is to Jo. So no pressure but my future Botcon attendance may depend on how good a time she has, as I said no pressure.
Is anyone entering any of the competitions, drawing figures etc, I've got a figure that may be ready in time.
Can never decide how to end posts so
Ta ta

Keep encouraging Jo, and don't worry Chris, we'll be nice!
Well, from the Hub, there's Andy (Bogatan), Marc (Krypto) and yours truly all going again this year, but no others to my knowledge. Of course there are always quite a few from TF@TM and some other UK boards as well, but can't say I know any of them that well.
I don't know really if we're going in to the Board Wars this year. They are on the Friday night so we may still be able to rustle up a team.
Regarding the competitions, I think the closing date for entries was actually April 1st, so you may not be able to enter unless you've already reserved a place for your piece. You should e-mail them ASAP to find out if there's still time to register for a contest. I didn't enter any myself, but I think Andy has something lined up.
I'm sure there'll be plenty of socialising. As for the specifics, I think there are a few threads on the TFCC forums dedicated to arranging meetup times.
Hope that helps.

I sent you both an email about board wars. Chris if you have something to enter email sherry@mastercollector.com and ask nicely. If its to late I suspect I wont have time to complete both my entries so you might be able to use that.

Andy,
I emailed Sherry and asked very nicely, and there was no problem (yay) so I have my figure (maybe two) entered in the competition.
Just putting the finishing touches to my sideswipe figure, put him back together yesterday.
Do you have any tips about the best way to trasport him?
Chris
