WAS: How many Transformers have you bought in 2015 so far?
I missed this by a few days but July 1st was day 183, the halfway point in the year.
So up until 1st of July how many Transformers have you bought in 2015?
and by BOUGHT we mean bought actually have in hand/acquired/been given.

I've reined in my collecting habits due to general disappointment with the Generations build quality in 2014. As a result, I only bought Combiner wars wave 1 & Megatron this year.
Edit: Actually, I bought a second-hand DOTM deluxe Bumblebee as well. Does that count?

I have a list. I have a list with the prices I paid too. I am too frightened to count the list, and total the prices. It may actually stop me buying any more, and we don't want that do we. Especially as I'm just off out to try and find a Hotspot.

Okay. But this does not put me in a good light, although playing strictly by the rules I can remove a few. My list for this year runs from after Christmas onward, and I got my first CW stuff in the week between Christmas & New Year, so if they don't count I can remove the first wave of Voyagers/Deluxes.
New Purchases 2015
FoC Eject (Ayres Airways) FoC Ramhorn FoC Rewind FoC Sunder FoC Ravage FoC Rumble FoC Frenzy FoC Ratbat
T30 Sky-Byte T30 Roadbuster T30 Windcharger T30 Thundercracker
CW Bombshell CW Powerglide CW Blades CW First Aid CW Rook CW Streetwise CW Groove CW Quickslinger CW Breakneck CW Dead End CW Offroad CW Breakdown CW Air Raid
Takara Legends Jetfire Takara Legends Arcee Takara Legends Chromia TAV Swoop TAV Slug
RiD Grimlock RiD Strongarm RiD Steeljaw RiD Bumblebee
Go! G26 Optimus ExPrime Go! G01 Kenzan Go! G02 Jinbu Go! G03 Ganoh Go! G05 Gekisoumaru Go! G10 Hishoumaru Go! G20 Sensuimaru Go! G25 Go! Prime
Amazon Exclusive G1 AoE Slog MP22 Ultra Magnus BH Legion Bumblebee BH Legion Soundwave Platinum Trypticon
Second Hand Purchases
WFC Optimus Prime (via Kingoji) FoC Impactor (loose complete) FoC Roadbuster FoC Whirl FoC Topspin FoC Twintwist T30 Dlx Bumblebee (freebie) Animated Safeguard (Jetstorm/Jetfire) Cybertron Vector Prime & whatever his minicon is called. Armada Rhinox & Armorhide
Then if Third Party doesn't count, and in my books it should do as it's all part of the same hobby, these don't count:
Fans Toys Soar Warbotron Whirlwind Planet X Summanus X-Trans Apollyon Warbotron Fierce Attack
So by the rules that's 60 if Safeguard counts as two. Going by my rules it's 71 since last Dec 28th. Either way you look at it that's waaaay too many, although in my defence a good number of those were bought at reduced prices or in sales.

Four (massively outweighed by the number I've sold):
1) Brainstorm 2) Budora 3) Guren Dragotron 4) Trypticon, god help me
(3) is in the to-sell pile, (2) might make it there as well.

I mean, most of mine I bought reduced, or with offers, or using vouchers or something or other. So it's all valid, right..? Also, thanks for making me feel better about myself. Just so long as I can not see this as a contest, I'll be saved from disaster...

Indeed. A few years ago when Animated finished I really thought I'd reached the end of the road with Transformers. I saw the barrage of movie tat in the shops and remember clearly thinking it was the end for me. Now I frighten myself with the amount of money I spend on the things. Too many to even have time to open, let alone get value out of. At some point I'm going to have one of those moments of realisation and ebay it all.
Mind you I do keep the finances for this mostly separate to everything else. I have been slowly clearing out old junk via ebay for a long time and use that to fund a hobbies account. Most of this list was paid for with that so it doesn't impact on anything else. And relatively speaking hobbies are hobbies, you could pay over £2000 for a season ticket to Arsenal and get 9 months of fortnightly entertainment in return. The missus and I used to follow the local side home and away, and when you factor travel into that the difference is negligible on what I'm now spending on toys instead.

Oh I got either MP Bee or Wheeljack this year too.
Depending on how you count some of them my total is around 70.
Frighteningly the Botcon set this year can be interpretted as 30+ characters.

(I do not follow football, but they are my home team, so I have some awareness of their fortunes, or painful lack thereof...)

I used a similar logic for a long time through my teens and early twenties when some of my friends started smoking, I spent way less and had something to show for it, not to mention a 50/50 chance of being able to make a profit on it one day. Others spent on supposedly more grown up hobbies like video games amassing giant collections of games that became largely worthless and obsolete within a few years. (My friends brother paid for an imported Playstation when it was first released in the US (or possibly Japan) back in 94 or whenever. Importing it and getting it to work in the UK came to something crazy like £500 or £800. That memory always makes me feel a little better when I order something stupidly expensive from the US or Japan as I've still not come close to that cost)

Although, that said, if you used to follow Portsmouth, I can understand why you stopped... (I do not follow football, but they are my home team, so I have some awareness of their fortunes, or painful lack thereof...) It was actually even more local than that, I was (and still am to a degree) a staunch supporter of Havant and Waterlooville FC in the Conference South. Supporting Portsmouth home and away would cost a lot more than I spend on toys! I ran the Hawks' website for 15 years when the club had no clue what the internet was and were happy for a fan to do it for them for free, and I used to write match reports from time to time for the Portsmouth Sports Mail to sub for the actual journo when he couldn't get to games. It took huge amounts of time though, especially doing 200-300 mile round trips to games on week nights in the dead of winter, so eventually when the club managed to get their own 'in house' web presence up and running I kinda stood down. Or was sidelined. One or the other depending on how bitter I want to feel about it. I still run my site, but it's a shadow of what it used to be and it exists now only really because the message board community is popular and busy and the club want nothing to do with that. Supporting the fans is still important to me, but the club can look after themselves. I think in the end running the site and keeping the stats database correct was more fun for me than watching the games. I've never actually been a big football fan and outside the world of the Hawks couldn't tell you anything about football at all.

That's a good comparison. A quick look at Tesco's website (as I have no idea, never smoked) tells us that 200 Benson and Hedges costs £90. Which would make a ten a day habit cost £135 a month. Anyway, I feel on dodgy ground getting into the act of trying to justify spending money on toys. It's a valid hobby to us and keeps us happy, but it isn't ever going to be accepted as a sensible use of your money by your mum.

Hmm...
MP Prowl MP Smokescreen MP Soundwave MP Ravage MP Rumble MP Frenzy MP Ratbat MP Laserbeak MP Buzzsaw MP Red Alert Gears (courtesy of Big Phil) And a Sandstorm to be collected at AA from Llama God.
The MP cars and Ratbat are KO, though, so I don't know if they should count...

CW Silverbolt and the three wave 1 Aerialbots, wave 2 Tiny Titans, Generations Roadbuster, Springer and Sandstorm, Generations Legends Optimus and Bumblebee, CW Bombshell, AOE Grimlock 2-pack, there is a Generations Whirl somewhere. Only other purchases planned for the year are whatever Generations Legends can be procured and Unite Warriors Devastator. The latter is sufficiently expensive even with saving up for it that it zaps most of the toy budget for the rest of the year!
Happy enough with all that though. It will be more than have been acquired for a good few years when the emphasis was more on massively cutting down a once huge collection rather than adding to it!

My Mum spends hundreds of pounds on going to see Madonna every time she performs in this country. My excuse is sound. ;-)
